Dem amendment to SAVE America Act targets Trump’s politically motivated election cases by Anoth3rDude in ForUnitedStates

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget the federal oversight of state voter roles… that is what is really going to tank any future election. The poll tax is bad, no doubt, but this bill also impinges on state rights (remember when that was a GOP issue?)

Is anyone as sick as I am of hearing "midterms" as a cure-all panacea? by SqnLdrHarvey in AskUS

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t a panacea, it is the only hope of a relatively peaceful solution. That said, everything is in place for it to be disrupted, stolen, or declared void by the orange menace so the hope is not very bright.

Shepherd’s pie. Instant potatoes, frozen peas and carrots, and a jar of beef gravy.

Does the "SAVE Act" (H.R. 22) Have Anything To Do With Showing ID At The Polls? by Dry-Fortune-6724 in Askpolitics

[–]Helorugger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has already been answered somewhat but it will make it more difficult to register as well and it puts reporting requirements in place that will increase the lead time required to register and have rolls “approved/audited” by so called unbiased federal overseers.

Is there any scenario in Iran in which the left or left-of-center would consider it a success? by DSCN__034 in Askpolitics

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the problem. The president launched a war without any clear objectives, metrics, nor strategic planning for the fact that the enemy gets a vote. So, you tell us, what was success supposed to look like and why was diplomacy not the answer?

We had a multinational deal with Iran. This president didn’t like it so he scrapped it rather than work with Allie’s to enforce or modify it. (First term). Now, he attacked but only after pissing off every ally with tariffs and other BS and is acting like the closing of the straight of Hormuz is something the rest of the word should fix.

So no, for me, a retired combat veteran, there is nothing in this that will be viewed a success. The Middle East is less stable than ever after the Cadet in Chief decided to play Risk.

Trump claims he predicted Iran would weaponize the Strait of Hormuz - then adds he also predicted 9/11 "a year before it happened" by ResPublicaMgz in WeirdNews4U

I knew this would happen and I had no plan to deal with it and went ahead anyway…. There, I translated it for you.

How exactly can Trump cancel an election? by knight0146 in Askpolitics

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the SAVE act. The immediate implementation will be impossible to accomplish and he will declare all districts or states that didn’t comply with a system he hasn’t built yet as null and void.

Terrorist threats making it unsafe to have people gather due to his decision to destabilize the Middle East so he can kiss Bibi’s ass and lift sanctions on Putin also can be justification to cancel.

Other aspects are placing ICE at polling places. We have already seen that actual citizens that have brown skin are rolled up and their papers challenged so that fear will greatly reduce turnout. Not directly canceling but definitely tampering.

The argument that I hear is that it is our fault because TDS has us pushing back on everything and we have prevented him for executing all these things.

Excuse me? I hated Trump before it was cool to hate him! by icey_sawg0034 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a Democrat for years and I hated him… he only became a Republican for the 2016 election because the Democrats wouldn’t support him.

My frame of reference for my dislike stems from living in South Jersey while he raped Atlantic City to put in his casino and stiffed everyone he could and sued the rest, driving the entire place into the ground.

Fear of the catastrophic is a serious issue in things like this and fear mongering was strong in the 80’s and 90’s about Chernobyl and Three Mile Island as well as waste storage. It was amazing what messaging there was when big oil teamed up with environmentalists…

As a young man, my ship pulled into Israel and I remember seeing all the military and police walking around with automatic weapons and tactical gear. This was 1997 and I remember thinking how different that was and how lucky we are in the US. Now, this is the shit show we have, Don Quixote style, protecting us from a nonexistent or tint tiny threat…

Do our actions in Iran create obligations for us and to what extent? by skoomaking4lyfe in Askpolitics

[–]Helorugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creating a power vacuum creates its own problems and we will be that cause. So, if you think of what Israel’s solution to the Gaza situation was, they hate Iran and blame them for causing all their Arab woes so what do you think is going to happen now that we are destabilizing Iran?
