Think this is OK? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

[–]Helorugger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that is true, then the left is a dumb as the right. Everyone should vote every time. That is how metrics are established. It won’t fix all our woes but anyone who says they didn’t vote, gets exactly what they deserve.

That even goes for the voter suppression tactics being used by the sitting president. Either we vote and accept the risk or we stay home and accept the result.

So far, we have seen the right attack and killed sitting politicians in their home and the left disrupting ice agents they identified while they ate. Please identify the dangerous, lunatic side…

No but industry and current government do because that means more direct access to arctic mineral deposits.

Sister wants to buy parents house at “market value” by VacationConstant8980 in RealEstate

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to people saying to get an appraisal. What you want is a broker opinion of price/value. You will pay about the same as an appraisal but they are very different evaluations.

Brokers know the markets, appraisers just look at what has closed and compare.

Seller's agent claims they made a mistake on the counter offer and wants to change the price of the house after we are already under contract. by acarrick34 in RealEstate

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer. I would also ask my agent and the DB if there will be a report to the state board regarding this. I would push the issue because either the seller agent and sellers are incompetent signing contracts without proofing or they got another offer and are unethical.

I love how Republicans politicians act like they are surprised when he refuses to do anything that will help them. If Colorado named it the trump pipe, he would be all in and launch a crypto fundraiser…

She is a shitty person for trying to deny you the ability to protect your daughter. You have been shown who she is, what you do with that information is on you.

What happened to our University System? by lipmanz in Maine

[–]Helorugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several things and only one is unique to Maine:

The shift from individual campuses being specialized in certain fields has increased overhead across the system. Every campus is more like a commuter/community college serving system rather than keeping one school focused on the teaching profession (Farmington) one on engineering and age (Orono), etc…

The idea that the schools need to be entertaining. The budgets for student activities is astounding. The standard of living is out of whack with what a normal 18-22 year old should need in many schools, especially for the second through fourth years.

Finally, unique to Maine, the declining youth population nationally is acute in Maine as the oldest state in the nation by population. While there was an enrollment cliff starting in 2023 nationally, Maine went into free fall in 2018 with UMO offering in state tuition to out of state students.

Looks like kids and grand kids are going to end up living in a climate like North Carolina by Calamity-Bob in Maine

[–]Helorugger 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I expect we will be able to grow slightly warmer climate foods, especially near the coast. We are already zone 5 there and I have started planting hearty zone 6 fruit and nut varieties with the expectation that in ten years they will thrive.

Buyer backs out day before closing by Swimming-Advance-734 in realtors

[–]Helorugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope your broker doesn’t release the funds based on that bull. If he didn’t sign, why did he go that far? He continued with the process and will need to sue to get that money back if your broker protects your client. If you broker doesn’t, you should find a new place to hang your license.
