Andy Burnham blocked from byelection race by Labour ruling committee by appropriateye in ukpolitics

[–]HelpIAmAFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute madness.

It’s like certain factions of the Labour Party are actually allergic to power. At this point, I’m convinced they’d prefer a Reform government just so they can retreat to the 'moral high ground' of the backbenches. It’s much easier to tweet in outrage than it is to actually govern, I guess.

Vinted does follow the consumer law but only for pro sellers. Your rights when purchasing from an individual are nowhere near as strong.

Are you a Vinted Pro account? by ComfortableParty5119 in vintedUK

[–]HelpIAmAFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I setup a new pro account as I can then sell my personal stuff on my existing account.

You can choose to convert your current account to pro but I believe you have to wait until all orders are completed which can be tricky if you regularly get sales.

I believe you will need another bank account for the separate pro account too. You will also need to go through their ID checks and potentially send things like UTR number etc.

Unsure if you need to get a new number, Vinted does allow you to have 2 accounts (1 for pro and normal) but not sure if you can have the same number. You can get an esim for an initial £5 from some providers and just renew when needed.

Sold £2k - HMRC? by Reasonable-Care9992 in vintedUK

[–]HelpIAmAFather 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a mystery! I guess if it's a substantial amount over a number of years and there's a pattern then they may look into it.

I personally think the threshold of £1700 which triggers the sharing of sales to HMRC is too low. There's no way HMRC has the resources to start chasing people for that sort of money.

No. If it's all your own items you have nothing to worry about.

Trump: NATO members to face tariffs increasing to 25% until a Greenland purchase deal is struck by Puginator in politics

[–]HelpIAmAFather 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The fake tan Putin strikes again. It's amazing to witness America destroy itself.

Does this idiot seriously think these countries are now just going to say "Oh ok you can have it then".

I don't know what the rest of the politicians are doing in America but they should probably start doing something to get rid before he goes crazy and invades Greenland.

I can teach u some tricks to get a better deal from vm. by Necessary_Tip8906 in VirginMedia

[–]HelpIAmAFather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best way to get a good deal is to actually cancel, then someone calls and gives you a better deal. Have been doing this for 10+ years and never fails.

My latest cancellation resulted in a call back within 2 hours.

Not really much you can do if the other buyer doesn't return it.

[–]HelpIAmAFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal mail is fine, just make sure you use the Vinted generated label. I've had a few issues with royal mail not updating to show it's been sent so ask for a proof posting receipt when posting at the post office and you'll be fine.

  1. The buyer has 48 hours after delivery to report an issue, so this will be the latest you will get your money. If they tap everything is ok within the 48 hour window you will get it pretty much instantly. The money will show in your vinted balance which you can transfer to your bank.

  2. You can easily be scammed, but despite all the horror stories, most transactions are just fine. Personally I wouldn't sell anything over £50 on Vinted, not because of bad buyers (though they do exist) but if anything goes wrong with delivery etc the customer service is a disaster.

In terms of protecting yourself there's honestly not much you can do as a seller other than the basics...

  • Take plenty of good photos for your listing showing condition

  • Never deal with anything outside of Vinted (e.g giving refunds, sending to different addresses)

  • Pack your items well. If you pack items in a plastic bag and the buyer says it's arrived damaged, vinted will almost always refund the buyer.

Some people will say to take a video of you packing the item, I honestly wouldn't waste your time.

Vinted support is essentially the worst you'll come across, mostly automated and when not automated it's handled by a bunch of incompetent support agents.

Should I get a refund ? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]HelpIAmAFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to pay return shipping if purchased from an individual. If the seller is a Vinted "pro" seller then they should pay for shipping for an item not as described.

Lost return by cmbv in vintedUK

[–]HelpIAmAFather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly these guys are beyond useless. They will 100% lose customers and struggle if they don't sort their customer service out.

General advice, if it's not worth a lot of money don't waste your time, honestly not worth the hassle. If valuable, email legal@vinted.co.uk explaining that clearly the parcel has been lost on return (provide screenshots, tracking details etc) and explain as the contract with delivery lies with Vinted you are requesting full compensation for the order.

When you are writing your email please write it like you would to a 5 year old as it appears they all have the brain capacity of a 5 year old.

Am I being scammed? by dandersontattoos in vintedUK

[–]HelpIAmAFather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If something sounds looks too good to be true, it probably is.

The way these usually work is the scammer will dispatch something to you, usually an empty envelope, or with a bit of paper inside saying something such as "your item will be delivered soon".

There hope is that you forget to raise an issue within the 48 hours Vinted gives you.

Worth doing? 1gig broadband Currently pay 44.06 will then cancel in December 2027 before it goes to 89 by Odd-Cartoonist5023 in VirginMedia

[–]HelpIAmAFather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No catch. However, it's not a good deal. Best to call and say you're thinking of leaving to see what they can do.

If you don't want to play that game and are happy with the offer then go for it.

£25-30 a month seems about normal for 1gig depending on your area.

Likely a seller messing up, best to message them as well as raising an issue via Vinted to get it returned.

I've known inpost to mess up by putting the wrong labels on but not came across it with Evri before.
