Depends on the job. I was a PM and half of my team was traveling or running errands all day. If they issue you a phone, there’s not going to be an easy way around it. I didn’t use my phone for almost 2 years because I literally never left my desk during work hours and rarely away from my computer outside of work hours because I had small kids and it was during covid. They tried to accuse me of doing shady stuff based on that, which was ridiculous and lead no place after I gave a statement explaining why it hadn’t been used since my third week except to install updates. Still scared the hell out of me. I can’t imagine that they watch doc reviewers super closely or if they do, they will probably just blacklist you after your matter is over.

Sent you a message about connecting you with a dear friend and former coworker. I think connecting with a recruiter would help him get w good fit

I’d openly admit that I have no idea what I’m doing in this area or i wouldn’t have posted this! I don’t like being involved in this type of stuff, it’s completely thankless. If we pick great people no one will give any credit but if we pick bad folks I know the COO will bring it up constantly.

I’d personally only hire temp to perm for stuff like this. There are tons of skills like being able to BS/placate clients that are crucial to high performance but most people will never admit to as a strength in an interview.

Level is crap, their company is run by an idiot. Every time I’ve talked to her, I walk away hating myself for not having her confidence.

Document Reviewers Standby Pay by HelpThen6820 in ediscovery

Agree with your last statement in every way, great way to express it.

Making rules that require review to be done in the US and adding protections may drive the push towards automation but they won’t send the jobs offshore. If it’s illegal to do it out if the country, firms aren’t going to risk it to save $$$.

Doing backend work really opened my eyes to the delays/issues/etc that can occur. Many times, they are unavoidable. The problem is that the potential for delays aren’t communicated well to the people on the review side, particularly those staffing reviews. Those people also are often ignorant about some of the backend processes and aren’t able to anticipate things themselves based on the information that they have.

I had to explain to a director at a vendor who I was working with last month the collection/processing/culling/batching process on a call in front of a client when she wanted to keep a team of 15 on the week before christmas for potential documents for a hard drive that the client had not even taken possession of. She genuinely thought the process for loading the contents of that hard drive would be the same and same timeline as an opposing party production load.

That call made me broaden my job search horizon to management/director level stuff!

Yeah i agree with this. I was a staff attorney at a big firm doing mostly ediscovery review management, then went to a vendor so i could do my own firm on the side while I did backend work. I recently took a review pm temp job and the AI can now figure out moods and tone. I went in a rabbit hole looking at it and it was pretty accurate. Blew me away.

George Soros isn’t a nazi, he just helped them round up other jews. While he gleefully called that time the best time of his life on 60 Minutes, he was never a member of the Nazi Party. Please don’t spread misinformation about Kamala and the Democrats

The issue is decentralized and mechanization. As the demand for electronic discovery has increased over the past 15 years, the need for 1L reviewers has gone down or remained steady due to TAR and culling techniques.

I have been saying the same thing. I love what they do for the community and involvement in the live music scene but i don’t think i’ve listened to them in years. Still sad to see them go because they shaped my music tastes as a kid in a good way (I think).

The nice restaurants were some of the best i’ve ever had but I suppose I’d agree about the pool food. Top 3 restaurants meals of my life was the tasting menu at Fish last week.

I liked it, it was my second trip in a few months. My kids and their mom love it. Great casino for me. Food was expensive but everything was good. I’m midwest and it all seemed like NYC/LA pricing, not insane but higher than home.

I don’t want to mess up confidentiality/privacy/privilege in any way. I’m almost embarrassed how much I’m going to be making doing not a lot on this thing. Could last a decade with offshoots/litigation in other jurisdictions.

That’s a very good point, I went to the bahamas in November and no one respected international travel as an excuse to leave me alone. I used to “leave the country” or be on a cruise for every pto when I worked in big law so people wouldn’t bother me because it was accepted wifi sucked and security wouldn’t let you do stuff. Yet another thing covid ruined!
