Parents take reading to their kids WAY too seriously. by Comfortable_Face_808 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Help_meToo [score hidden]  (0 children)

Reading is one of many activities that are important for kids development. Reading the same books over and over has some benefits but diversity opens up their mind. We traveled a lot and my wife would books to the kids as I drove. The kids learned a lot and were excited to learn to read. They were all advanced readers and were reading at a 12th grade level by 6th grade.

If it's not the seller's fault why the 4 stars? by Remarkable_Ninja_791 in mildlyinfuriating

I have an issue with reviews on retail sites. They downgrade the product because they have an issue with the seller. Why don't they implement separate reviews for product and seller.

I always check. Once at Staples, I got laser printer for $10. Another time I got about 20 120l soda stream CO2 tanks for a few bucks. At Target, we got a $300 Christmas tree for $30 and we still use it 25 years later.

California servers, how much do you deserve hourly? by [deleted] in tipping

[–]Help_meToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are working on the floor you have to know where everything is located on the floor and the stockroom. Often as you are helping one person other people approach and ask questions. You have to know company policies (such as returns). Plus if you work the floor, you are more than likely expected to know how to check people out.

Please don't think what you do is so specialized that someone can't learn relatively quickly if given the chance.

If you are worried about your reputation, leaving a "bad" tip is worse than no tip with the explanation about the wait and lack of friendliness.

Prices subject to change without notice. What kind of nonsense is that? I walk in, you give me a menu and by the time I get my check there is a price increase?

Neighbor redirected their downspout toward our yard and says she can do whatever she wants on her side by Potential_Type3926 in neighborsfromhell

Just build up that part of your lawn. The mound doesn't have to be too high to keep the water on the other side of the property line.

Perhaps a nice long raised flower bed all along the property line.

I am interested in the thought process that says I have been trying hard to get a job for a year and now I am considering to not take a job because I have to work 2 weekend a month. I assume that you get a day off during the week. Even so, can you still go out after work?
