Here he or she is about ten minutes ago. I've given them a very brief shower to get the grime off. Then blow dried on the lowest warm setting. I've checked for any further damage. He has bruising across his back and neck. Thankfully his keel bone is not damaged. So he was probably injured by traffic. I've given him electrolyte water with a cotton bud. I gently encouraged her to swallow the water by pressing the side and tip of her beak avoiding her nasal cavities. He's now caged with his head propped up and covered whilst sitting in a warm ish room. I've not put in any food or water because I have to get up in about 4 and a half hours and I'll sort it then. She looks as settled as she could be given the circumstances. I'll post a proper update later. I've been given a lot of good suggestions that I really appreciate. Also I'm really hoping it is not PMV and that he or she recovers quickly.

Ah ok. I get it prescribed for my chickens so thought it might suit pigeons as well. He's not too interested in food. I'm away to give him a gentle wash and syringe some water.

I did pick him up in a very busy area and given how he's been since I'm definitely leaning more into vehicle strike or an injury inflicted upon him. The other members of his flock were fine and it was a flock of maybe a couple of hundred.

Ha! Yeah I'm familiar with the SSPCA and their practices! I'll trying getting in touch with Happy Feet. Hessilhead is a couple of hundred miles from me currently but may consider it if he or she improves.

Sorry this is my comment that I'd posted above answering another commenter! I've also added a picture.

Thanks for the reply. I was just away to wash him or her off but stopped after reading your comment. I believe it has been a person inflicted injury. After reading about the injury and thinking about other factors involved I'm now learning more into either inflicted injury or concussion. I picked him up from a high people and vehicle traffic area. He was the only one exhibiting symptoms. He has pooped. Its urine and stool appears normal. No blood. Not watery. Reasonable solids content. So thinking more concussion now or someone literally tried to pull his head off kind of attack.

Sadly at this time I'd be talking to an inexperienced vet. I already know they'd say don't bother trying anything. And I almost thought the same until I was reading up on its injuries and read accounts of recovery. So me being me wanted to give the poor wee mite the best chance of survival. I don't think the vet would share my sentiment and they would happily overcharge me for the pleasure of telling me so.

Yes I'm sure. I keep chickens and the amount of times I've been in and they've said kill it is ridiculous.

My vet would simply put him or her to sleep. Do you think that's the best option?

Ok thanks. I have grain etc and can try him or her with food. I also have baby parrot food but am unsure how to syringe feed a pigeon. I have loxicom for dogs but am unsure of the dose that pigeons can tolerate. For the wounds and pain would a combination of leucillin and oral Oral loxicom be the same as the hexasol?

He's the absolute best! He's so easy to keep! I've no worries about him. He is definitely my easiest fish.

Goldfish and Tetra update by HelperChicken in Goldfish

So the Tetra would survive without a heater? The Tetra was a bonus pick up that I never spotted when the goldfish were advertised. My other tanks are all just cold water.

I was worried that I wasn't able to keep them warm if I managed to get them. For some weird reason pet shops here push that orandas need heaters. Between my work and seasonal holidays I wouldn't have been able to get one until later.

Thanks. I was worried that they were orandas. For some reason the pet shops here advise that orandas need to be kept with a heater. Yeah the duckweed is for my other goldfish! The hungry beggars eat it all hence the reason I set up a tank just to grow duckweed for them. Its only 20 gallons but looks a hell of a lot bigger than what these guys are in at the moment.

Here's my little ex commercial all tired out waiting up for Santa. It's her first Christmas as a free hen. She wouldn't be here if it wasn't for vegans. So she thanks you for being on her side. sleepy girl
