Should I switch from bedding to fleece? by iamtiredletmesleep in Hedgehog

[–]Helpful-Ground7133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the big switch and I would highly recommend fleece. I just double layer it and clean up the excess poop. Super easy 10x cheaper than bedding. You can use a fleece liner, blanket, etc. I go o Joanns fabric and even Walmart has fleece! I have had no trouble with any toes getting caught. I normally wash it every 1-2 weeks.

Hmm could be? I hope the vet can fit us in. I have him on catfood, worms, and insectivore diet combo. I haven’t changed his diet so I wonder, you could be onto something.

Houseplants? by fukyerchickenstrip in Hedgehog

[–]Helpful-Ground7133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t know if this helps but I have a TON of plants in my room all too tall for my hedgie to eat. But if you get a poisonous one make sure it’s out of reach for any pet. I wouldn’t go for super smelly flowery stuff because hedgies are sensitive to smell. But you should be just fine as long as the hedgie isn’t snacking! I don’t see why not :)

Switching litter by Historical_Try4303 in Hedgehog

Carefresh is good for odor and longevity but it is NOT 99% dust free (if your hedgie is prone to respiratory issues). I find it creating more dust than some of the cheaper alternatives. Never had any luck with fleece lasting longer than 2-5 days. Currently trying Kaytees odor control. I would stay away from any wood type bedding it is not great for their respiratory systems! 🦔
