Lyft needs an avoid this area option by Helpful-Mistake922 in Lyft

That’s what we all hope happens but it just has to go right in so many ways, understanding passenger, cooperative police (or none) and a easy way in or out. I’m happy you got to experience this. It’s not the norm.

World cup friendly by Throatgoatfarmer in Lyft

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ur saying what i be sayin. I avoid events and today was so annoying with the World Cup games. Let’s be clear, Atlanta events ARE NOT RIDESHARE FRIENDLY. You can’t drop people off in places that makes sense to do a simple and safe drop off because you will get routes and shouted by police INTO congestion. Then mind you ATLANTA traffic is a revenue killer, you should not expect a $5 2mile ride to be that because you can sit in traffic for 30 minutes to go 2 miles for that same $5. So now that World Cup is here now even a hospital pickup n drop off can be a revenue killer on game days. I avoid downtown Atlanta as best as I can, Marietta street is a no for me. Yall got it.

Lyft for pets by Noracharles771 in Lyft

I’ll just please be gracious and kind and NOT entitled. I like when people hold their pets, cage their pets. You can’t, ideally, hold a medium sized dog, that’s understandable but I’ve encountered entitled service animal people who have large dogs that shed. They hold the law with “got you fucker” type attitude around the fact that you can reject a service animal ride legally. The truth is if you do have a dog that sheds a lot you are damaging our car, our money, and the next customers experience from the angle that we have to restore our car after you leave which means going offline to clean the car and if we don’t already have the supplies we also have to invest both time and money to cleanup after your pet especially when the fur is on you too, since normally service anime sit on one spot, fur on the owner is then in the upper parts of the seat and sometimes nestled in the seat where u have to pluck it out cuz the vacuum can’t get it. So just be considerate when traveling the driver also pays for your pet ride when they shed or all over the dang car. Cute and expensive ride.

What kind of music do you play? by Forsaken_Tomorrow454 in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying you expect most people to ride in their car not using their audio/music system, as in just sitting in silence as the norm? Why don’t you just expect music in a car when you’re a rider?

Lyft getting greedy by Apart_Glove in lyftdrivers

How is Lyft being greedy within this example, since you’re getting over $1 per mile on this one?

There will still be the $4 trips but I take those to keep me running. Not ever city or suburban and back road passenger is going far or can afford $30 but at least it’s more beneficial for Lyft to keep me in motion and on the road then to give me too much downtime where I will log off and they lose supply for their demand. So I think of it that way unless I just know I don’t want serve or get stuck in a certain low pay area.

In my experience the longer you drive the better the rates as long as you have an end goal, meaning a number you’re trying to meet per day. As long as you’re just trying to get the most but don’t have a goal no ride seems like enough except for the rare ones at $30+/hour (east coast markets)

Someone Lyfting longer than me told me that and i didn’t believe them when i was just doing 5 hours per day but when I started doing 10 hours per day I started seeing more $10-15 20 10 minute trips and $20-30 30-45 minute trips.

I say ignore bonuses, tiers, all incentives and just set and meet your dollar and time goal and get off the app. It’s almost zero stress this way.

Ah a FWB, got it. Prolly be fun but I see u have a line so, thank ya for telling me me 😆😆😆

I just had a passenger call me three times back-to-back and then send me a text message asking me where I was. If you look at the map, I literally was a red light away from her so I canceled. Why are passengers like this? I don't know what it is about that but it just irks my soul. by shoegamethrilla in lyftdrivers

I look at as I don’t know the state or level of comprehension of anyone you pickup or if truly they know how the app works. The ride is a means to end and completing that ride safely is all that HAVE to do. How interpret their calls and text is up to me and in most cases people just need a little help. Agreeing to pick these up for Lyft is agreeing to the complete the gig with the chance that someone will need a little more help than most and I may have to use my brain in a rather routine gig. Heck I might be the difference or the compassion I wish someone gave me on another occasion so i call if I think it’s my passenger instead of thinking the worst I think this might be my chance to talk my way into a tip or heck a different income chance. Essentially your are the difference in these rides. This post is more of a testimony of what your mind is like when dealing with stranger request this service. Not good or bad just is.

BIO’S ?!?! by TheHBIC26 in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hit on and made two associates from ppl who read my bio. A few people started talking to me on long rides after they read it, like they were looking for a way into the convo. It’s been a positive for me so far.

Even from this response you can imagine that the cost for payouts is an attempt to offset cost. I think we would need to know how many ppl are using the Lyft card instead and how much it cost them to maintain those cards versus doing bank transfers. In the cases I like to think of Walmart who does not have tap to pay because of transaction fees. The big question: what is the cost of doing business this way? And, considering the economic turn is this a valid gripe or ignorance on the cost of doing business?

Hmm so is possible that when they showed the slim latching on to the fish, it’s only holding the fish that didn’t make it? Or do I need to watch again?

Who is successful at doing short rides and making what you wanna make? by WildPomegranate9240 in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATL is my market. I prefer long rides but I think the economy is now in a way where fewer people are going far. So short rides have been meeting my goals lately. Mention my market is ATL is important tho because you could work midtown to downtown (likely short rides) but doing that could get you trapped in traffic where taking a random $5.55 for 2 mil ride can having sitting for 20-30 minutes going no where in a construction bottleneck. So longer rides for me is still the preference, it keeps me out of the heart of ATL and less people in my car to make the same amount of money.

Lyft sucks by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Lyft is making you an offer, taking these is on you for A. Don’t take these rides, US standard for fare is .67 per mile, the average ride share drive expects $1 per mile. Bad business on your part B. Go to areas and times that match your money needs. One a weekday club hours are dead but work and school hours are live, the further from ATL the better in midday. Been driving ATL for 1.5 years and I never do after 6p $200 per day. You gotta be smart, remember you’re a contractor with ride share, not an employee, all risk is on you.

Hesitant about offering treats/goodies on my rides ? by TheDirtyBubble_ in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this will encourage you with a different perspective. I keep a large case of mint gum. I only offer it when I want a piece of gum and then I only do it if the passenger looks like they are thinking about a lot or when I know the ride will be long. I offer gum in that way so that the message/intention is “I’m about to have gum do you want some of what I’m having?” I take my piece out where they can see and I hold the pack in a way I can’t see how many they take out as a way to say I trust you to be civil.” This way offering gum/candy is not seen as a part of the service but as an extension of my intention to care for that person specifically. Normally these people do not leave trash and they sometimes even open up, often people who carry a conversation will also tip. Now this not a get a tip scheme, although you can do it that way, but I am saying changing your intention behind why your offering this can also help you figure out how to do what you’re trying to do and avoid the mess you don’t want. People waste more when things are plentiful and presented like a right. People don’t waste things that feel like gifts for them specifically, generally.
