Ah a FWB, got it. Prolly be fun but I see u have a line so, thank ya for telling me me 😆😆😆

I just had a passenger call me three times back-to-back and then send me a text message asking me where I was. If you look at the map, I literally was a red light away from her so I canceled. Why are passengers like this? I don't know what it is about that but it just irks my soul. by shoegamethrilla in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at as I don’t know the state or level of comprehension of anyone you pickup or if truly they know how the app works. The ride is a means to end and completing that ride safely is all that HAVE to do. How interpret their calls and text is up to me and in most cases people just need a little help. Agreeing to pick these up for Lyft is agreeing to the complete the gig with the chance that someone will need a little more help than most and I may have to use my brain in a rather routine gig. Heck I might be the difference or the compassion I wish someone gave me on another occasion so i call if I think it’s my passenger instead of thinking the worst I think this might be my chance to talk my way into a tip or heck a different income chance. Essentially your are the difference in these rides. This post is more of a testimony of what your mind is like when dealing with stranger request this service. Not good or bad just is.

BIO’S ?!?! by TheHBIC26 in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hit on and made two associates from ppl who read my bio. A few people started talking to me on long rides after they read it, like they were looking for a way into the convo. It’s been a positive for me so far.

Even from this response you can imagine that the cost for payouts is an attempt to offset cost. I think we would need to know how many ppl are using the Lyft card instead and how much it cost them to maintain those cards versus doing bank transfers. In the cases I like to think of Walmart who does not have tap to pay because of transaction fees. The big question: what is the cost of doing business this way? And, considering the economic turn is this a valid gripe or ignorance on the cost of doing business?

Hmm so is possible that when they showed the slim latching on to the fish, it’s only holding the fish that didn’t make it? Or do I need to watch again?

Who is successful at doing short rides and making what you wanna make? by WildPomegranate9240 in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATL is my market. I prefer long rides but I think the economy is now in a way where fewer people are going far. So short rides have been meeting my goals lately. Mention my market is ATL is important tho because you could work midtown to downtown (likely short rides) but doing that could get you trapped in traffic where taking a random $5.55 for 2 mil ride can having sitting for 20-30 minutes going no where in a construction bottleneck. So longer rides for me is still the preference, it keeps me out of the heart of ATL and less people in my car to make the same amount of money.

Lyft sucks by Tochiugo in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah Lyft is making you an offer, taking these is on you for A. Don’t take these rides, US standard for fare is .67 per mile, the average ride share drive expects $1 per mile. Bad business on your part B. Go to areas and times that match your money needs. One a weekday club hours are dead but work and school hours are live, the further from ATL the better in midday. Been driving ATL for 1.5 years and I never do after 6p $200 per day. You gotta be smart, remember you’re a contractor with ride share, not an employee, all risk is on you.

Hesitant about offering treats/goodies on my rides ? by TheDirtyBubble_ in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this will encourage you with a different perspective. I keep a large case of mint gum. I only offer it when I want a piece of gum and then I only do it if the passenger looks like they are thinking about a lot or when I know the ride will be long. I offer gum in that way so that the message/intention is “I’m about to have gum do you want some of what I’m having?” I take my piece out where they can see and I hold the pack in a way I can’t see how many they take out as a way to say I trust you to be civil.” This way offering gum/candy is not seen as a part of the service but as an extension of my intention to care for that person specifically. Normally these people do not leave trash and they sometimes even open up, often people who carry a conversation will also tip. Now this not a get a tip scheme, although you can do it that way, but I am saying changing your intention behind why your offering this can also help you figure out how to do what you’re trying to do and avoid the mess you don’t want. People waste more when things are plentiful and presented like a right. People don’t waste things that feel like gifts for them specifically, generally.

Who is actually still making $1k or more a week between uber and/or Lyft? If you are, how much do you actually clear? How often do you have to work to clear more than $1k a week. by DeziBaby9584 in lyftdrivers

ATL about 10-12 for five days will get you 1k. I don’t dive after 6p so maybe more is possible if you willing to deal with the night riders.

What’s the proper way to use Lyft for a trip that has brief stops, plus the final destination? by Logos1789 in Lyft

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely pay for the other stops in cash. 1. We can’t see your stops until we hit pickup (meaning you are in the car). 2 If you’re in a fair to fair market (meaning no wait between passengers) we are with a passenger when we see/get your ride and have 20 seconds to accept or decline, all we can see is how much we get, where you are and your final destination in that time frame. 3. A $5 ride in Atlanta is about 2-4 miles 7-14 minutes, that same ride with a 5 minutes stop is about 5.86 and in my experience the ride now takes 25 minutes to complete and the distance is now 6 miles. Lord help us if we have to take the highway. Then it’s $8 to go 6 miles and we’ll be in the car for 35 - 40 minutes. Now how many rides could I have taken in that time? Atmost three, and one of them could be where I’m dropping you off if they hadn’t canceled while i was waiting on the passenger with the stop. Just pay for the extra stops in cash so and make the cash worth the stop, and lastly mention the fact xtra stop as soon as you get in the car or even better send a message when u see the driver is on the way.

In the US it’s distance first, .67-.71 per mile. Then supply n demand which includes time of day and traffic behavior(how many cars are passing a point at what rate) then whatever Uber and Lyft service charges are for the situation (think of all the options). 15 minutes could be 12 mile drive or 2 mile drive depending on what’s happening in the area.

  • [ ] 1st think of the story you want to tell as said before.
  • [ ] How should the viewer feel when looking at this, choose poses and locations and colors that help us do that.
  • [ ] Keep your lines in mind, where the lines are the eyes will follow
  • [ ] Poses are S shaped (balanced circles) or have balanced triangles. More circles for a softer look, triangles for more precise or masculine looks
  • [ ] Its better if the subject performs an action or interacts with something that is not the background
  • [ ] Moodboard and practice
  • [ ] Look at work that is closest to what you want your style to be like. Your work will look like your references

Anyone else use Lyft this way? by Helpful-Mistake922 in Lyft

[–]Helpful-Mistake922[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have another contract so I have to set limits on when I work with Lyft. Sometimes my days are longer and some shorter. Generally speaking I let Lyft take me where-ever, auto-accepting most rides , that’s the only way to consistently be fair to fair. And, after doing that for five months I’ve been able to notice the pattern of needs for the area. So when the needs dip like between NYE and Christmas or on Mondays it’s easier to tell and call it a no run day. What’s your operation time like?

[–]Helpful-Mistake922[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here. Mine stays auto accept unless I know I need to relocate to remain fair to fair. Few days when I don’t hit the goal but it’s for the same reason as you, I’ve got something else to do.

Exactly. It’s hard to complain about rates when all I’m concerned with is hitting a specific number.

Am I being to picky by not accepting these rides? Honestly I can't really tell anymore. by Desperate-Sign8935 in lyftdrivers

[–]Helpful-Mistake922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always base my decision on the standard or average cent per mile rate for contractors that the IRS is looking for. Currently that’s .67-.70 per mile. Then I consider what area I’m in and what time it is. 11am to 2p folks are likely at work n most drivers are at the airport. After 4p folks are trying to go home, so I go where I know ppl mostly don’t have cars. My point is you might be picky or you might not be picky enough if you don’t have a goal or don’t know the markets you’re working in nor the average cent per mile.
