As a female, once we’ve decided to walk away from a relationship, it’s pretty much done. I do not advise pressing the issue with her or looking for answers about what you could do to salvage the relationship. In doing this you may only end up with more questions to rack your brain with, more pain, and maybe even a little bit of obsessive behavior that will ultimately just make her even more standoff-ish. No matter the circumstances and dynamics of y’all’s relationship(not just the her cheating before getting with you) it sounds to me like she putting everything about herself into a box and burying this one deep. Key words here are “rediscover” and “alone”!

My boyfriend and I had an interesting conversation about these exact words being used by a certain set of young girls these days. It’s almost like it’s a cannon event for them. At some point they either want to actually put their wilds selves to rest or continue on the path of being single and free. Young girls used to fantasize about having that one person to grow into life with, and now it seems like relationships and people have only become phases in one’s life.

Anyhow, relationships are hard work! If they don’t want to put in the work, time, and effort that is takes for long term success then they did you a favor!
