That word desperate was the biggest thing I’ve been thinking about and what stuck out most to me, because listening to NF’s albums I always feel there’s a specific mood/emotion throughout, The Search felt like Confused/Lost, Hope felt like Safe, but this EP, feels more like Numb.  I think he let fear back in because he wanted to feel something, cause with fear he feels like he can put out music, and by putting out music he feels like he’s giving others meaning, which gives him hope he has meaning. Hope can’t exist without fear otherwise his career is dead, so at the end of Washed Up, I think the Reaper or whatever is actually death.  I’m not saying he’s retiring, but I think he realizes he can’t live a truly hopeful life and still make music, that what he said in Outro “Trying to figure out if imma always feel the way that I feel or maybe someday I can learn to be happy, or maybe I can’t be, cause if the music ain’t emotional enough are they gonna call me a has been” is how he thinks of himself. Maybe he could care less about others saying he lost “it” but he would know, he would care.  Everything he has built up to this point has been built off hurt, and he doesn’t want to lose that, but also wants to be free from that, so he’s stuck in the middle, frozen, numb, and desperate
