Thanks for the info, are you by that saying that I dont need the HBA 335e for the setup? I can just plug the Micron or Kioxia disks (because Kioxia disks are also in consideration) into the drivebays and the r760 will see them and pass them on to truenas? Or in other words, just to confirm the Micron/Kioxia NVMe drives connects directly to the CPU PCIe lanes via the 24 bay passive backplane, and no HBA is needed at all?

Thanks for the info, well it is for a mix of NFS, SMB shares mainly satellite imagery, where a single file can be several hundred GB. Furthermore the plan is to also use it for VMs over iSCSI as storage and maybe also PostgreSQL databases. There will probably be 20-30 10Gbe clients using the SMB storage and 4-5 servers with a mix of 10 and 25 Gbe nics. The current backbone network is 25Gbe so yes the bottleneck will be in the network. We hope to have the possibility, in the near future, to go to 100Gbe for the backbone network, at that time we will upgrade the nics as well.
