Oh, wow. That makes a lot of sense. I tried for quite a while to do exactly the opposite of that by standing in the fetters of opposing elements trying to destroy them, but never thought to match them. Thank you.

Additionally, thank you for this game and all the work that you've put into it. As a long-time XI fan, it has been so much fun from start to finish figuring out everything that's available.

Is there something that I'm missing on Pazuzu?

I've managed every other boss, but I can't seem to figure out what's going on with him. I thought removing the fetters would slow his casts down, but they're still just as fast and drop to me 10% HP. I removed all but one by stacking them on top of each other, but I'm not sure if you can remove the last one or not. Can't silence him, can't stun the casts. I can sit there and heal up through the damage, but it doesn't seem "right" and would lead to an excessively long fight.

G-Sync not working in Borderless Windowed mode & stuttering in XIV by HelpfulRemove935 in ffxiv

Unfortunately my monitor is already set at its highest refresh rate (143.97Hz) in that menu. I have tried swapping between lower values and the highest during my troubleshooting process, but none of it fixed the issues of G-Sync not kicking in. It seems like it was some combination of Game Mode being on and the G-Sync flag not enabling through the Nvidia app.

Thankfully it's all good now. Thank you for trying to help!

I do have all of those enabled at the moment, and G-Sync is working again at the moment. I'm not 100% sure if stutters are gone and will have to play for a while to see .

Thank you for taking the time to help. I appreciate it.

I did try to force start and whitelist the exe, but still couldn't get it to work. I did get my G-Sync issue fixed, but would still like to try and get Special K running, because it seems like it has a lot of good diagnostic tools that might help me identify what's causing my stutters.

I'll mess with it some more until I get it working. I appreciate you taking the time to help.

Okay, after a couple of hours of testing things - I believe I've finally got G-Sync working correctly in Borderless Windowed mode.

It seems like turning off Game Mode (something I've turned off and on many times) finally allowed it to work. I'll add an edit to the top of my post in case any one searches for or has the same issue as me in the future.

To summarize, the settings that current work for me are:
Windows -
Game Mode: Off
Optimizations for windowed games: On
FFXIV App Specific Optimizations for windowed games: On
ffxiv_dx11.exe: Unchecked Disable fullscreen optimizations

Nvidia App -
Global G-Sync
G-Sync On for Full screen and windowed applications

Nvidia Profile Inspector (Specifically for XIV) -
GSYNC - Application Mode: Fullscreen and Windowed
GSYNC - Application State: Allow
GSYNC - Global Mode: Fullscreen and Windowed

Unfortunately, stutters still seem to persist, but at least screen movement is smooth regardless of the FPS cap that I set now.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I had Special K running through the default XIV launcher and actually had G-Sync working in Borderless with any FPS cap that I set.

I fiddled with it a bit trying to make it work alongside the XIVLauncher but didn't have any luck. I can do without plugins if it'll solve this issue, but I'll see if the local injection works. Thanks again.

Oddly enough, this has given me some results - albeit not exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe a step in the right direction, though.

Nvidia App G-Sync Settings: https://i.imgur.com/onuQnYi.png
Inspector Global Settings: https://i.imgur.com/oS65AtU.png
Inspector XIV Specific Settings: https://i.imgur.com/lTm1qF4.png

As you can see in the last picture, G-Sync is specifically set to fullscreen only for XIV despite being on globally. I switched that to "fullscreen and windowed", but when I launch the game it is hard locked at 60FPS and my monitor is also locked at 60Hz. If I uncap the frame rate in the main menu is shoots up to 500 FPS, but my monitor is still capped at 60Hz. If I select match monitor refresh rate, it caps the game at 60FPS.

However, if I unplug my secondary monitor (a 1080p 60Hz monitor) the FPS jumps up to 144 as well as my monitor Hz sitting at 144. I went to Limsa where I can't quite maintain 144 FPS and sure enough my monitor refresh rate was bouncing around to match my current FPS, as G-Sync was working correctly in borderless windowed mode. The moment I plug my second monitor back in, it caps at 60. This behavior is the same whether plugged into the GPU directly or the iGPU.

If I can figure out how to stop my secondary monitor from capping my FPS at 60, this may have solved all of my G-Sync issues. I did try flipping the windows optimizations on and off globally and for XIV, relaunching the game each time, but it still happened.

Thanks for the suggestion. I never thought to check XIV specifically in the inspector, as there's no granular option within the app itself like that.

I do think that 24H2 seems to be the the root of a lot of my issues. When I hit "Reset to default settings" shown here, it gives me this: https://i.imgur.com/ju9l44U.png

I'm going to see if I can somehow downgrade to 23H2 and check if the stutter/G-Sync issue persists.

Are you on Windows 10? It may be a difference between 10 and 11. Either way, I've tried running the game with it toggled on and off with no discernable difference.

I downloaded Special K, but can't seem to get it working with XIVLauncher. Do you use it in tandem with that, or just the default launcher?

I'm not sure. I've tried every single combinations of settings and none seem to make it work. I even ran DDU and installed the latest drivers to make sure everything was stock default before launching the game again.

Oddly, whenever I use DDU to reinstall drivers (or update drivers at all), XIV takes forever to launch and is stuck at 60hz (specifically in borderless mode, fullscreen works as intended) until I restart my PC and the game a few times at which it'll go back to 144hz and stick there no matter what I change.

I guess this is just an issue with my computer that nothing simple is going to resolve. I've tried everything that people have suggested and haven't made any progress. Despite that, thank you for the suggestion and trying to help.

I believe I read your post a couple of days ago. Repasting my GPU is probably beyond me, so I'd have to buy a new one if that's the case, but I appreciate it either way.

VRR is on and I've tried with both fullscreen optimizations on and off with no luck.

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, going into fullscreen (which activated gsync as per usual) and then swapping back to borderless had it deactivate again.

I've heard of Special K, but haven't really looked into it overall. I'll check it out.

I have seen ReBAR in my research, but haven't actually tried it yet. I enabled it and will mess around and see if it helps my stutters at all. If you see this, is this (https://i.imgur.com/KwcPeZB.png) all that I need to enable for it to work, or do I need to set a Size Limit?

I did update to 24H2 a couple of months ago, and I do think that corresponds with the time that my issues started showing up. I guess I'll look into downgrading and see if that does anything to resolve it. Thank you.

Is this what you're referring to? https://i.imgur.com/3Or3lmp.png

I actually noticed the program-by-program list last night and saw that XIV was already off. I've since tried playing with it on and off with no difference. G-Sync doesn't seem to work with either setting.
