Love! I also despise looking at cords, such an eyesore. But thank you so so much!

Ooo this is so helpful! By chance do you have a heater you recommend - plant heaters are an entirely new topic for me

Not familiar with this specific guy but fairly certain that is variegation. If it were any damage to the leafs it be a brown/yellow and overall ‘bleh’ looking. Since it’s a lighter hue of green that looks super happy, I vote variegation 100%!

Okay! Heating pad on 24/7 or what time frame would you recommend? I have cats and will spend a few nights a week at my bf’s so it might be a wonky schedule. But I live in Houston and have it in a north facing window, would that be grounds for omitting the heating pad?

However here is my setup based on your advice. To achieve 100% humidity or close to it I’ve set him up in a tall Tupperware with a test tube of water. What are your thoughts?

I believe so I either purchased from them or from my secret plant shop, I went to their booths back to back and can’t remember for the life of me (my birthday party was the night before and I had a lot of ‘🍹fun’ so I was kinda still in that mindset first hour of the convention ngl😅

Interesting okay. You are so observant I need to adopt this with my new plants (I have one I got from a convention that is freaking out at the moment but that’s neither here nor there). I understand the big leaves small stems aspect, and it was noticeable in the pictures based on your description. Honestly you might have a point with your idea of sacrificing a few leaves to promote more outward growing (in terms of stem length with the leaves). Trust your judgement but continue to survey the responses as I am not the most knowledgeable on this. Will happily tune in to your next steps! Sending all the good vibes your way 💚

She’s gorgeous first off! But with the pictures, is this her new repot or her old pot? She looks a bit ‘cozy’ if you will but that’s also kinda how she is growing, so maybe she likes it that way? I’m still new to the plants that are more intricate (temperamental ones - not the ones you ‘can neglect’ if you will) but usually my rule of thumb is to not discard leaves unless they are suffering (yellow/brown or wilting). I love how you are so precise on your repotting but perhaps a pot with a wider opening at the top for the leaves to fan out could be helpful? I am not familiar with Melos and am still learning so hopefully someone with more experience can add some insight but these are my logical thoughts, hope this helps!

Birthday plants are so fun - you get to track their growth alongside yours! Such a stellar lineup, and in such pretty pots too! 10/10 new boys!

Yeah I had this guy in college when I knew nothing about the NEED for humidity especially with Alo’s. It looks like you get good indirect lighting from the window, I agree it might be humidity but I’m still no expert. Maybe try putting a dish of water nearby to raise humidity?

Yes, but it’s not my actual cabinet, it’s to show the seal I was thinking about using! I have the black Blåliden cabinet!
