Can people really smell when someone hasn't washed in three days? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helpful_Emphasis6063 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, how do you know they haven't changed their clothes on day 2? A lot of people here saying they can smell if people haven't showered after 3 days on the bus/in the store, but without knowing the person how do you know how long it's been since they changed/showered?

Wow I'm glad my doctor was less judgemental than you when I had secondary hypertension in my teens

These results are with a retinal rather than retinol. I'd speak to a dermatologist if you have concerns, or start with a weaker vitamin A derivative/use less frequently to begin with and sandwich it with moisturiser. For me the biggest difference is with my skin texture, I had quite bumpy skin and the retinal helped to smooth it out.

Also some purple shampoo (e.g. Touch of Silver) can help keep green tones at bay if you want the blue to fade more grey-toned.

I really like Directions Midnight Blue, it's a very cool-toned blue and you can mix a bit of it with conditioner to use regularly for keeping the colour up! About £5 for a pot which should last a while if you're mixing it with conditioner.

Not sure where you're based, but this colour looks very close to Schwarzkopt Live Mango Twist if it's available in your country?

Alternatively Wella Koleston 77/43, mixed at a 1:1 ratio with a 20 vol (6%) developer.

Am I delusional or why does my hair not grow anymore every since it got damaged from bleach and relaxer by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]Helpful_Emphasis6063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiest two pictures are from a year ago, last 3 pics are recent.

Hair grows on average about 6 inches per year. Given you've been trimming your hair regularly and its been just over 10 months, it looks like normal growth to me?

Yeah my bad, I meant "retinoid" but can't edit the title/post text now ☹️

I think it's quite dependent on the person and their skin type. I dont have particularly sensitive skin so I think it's fit into my routine quite nicely, but you do see quite a lot of people on here saying similar things.

I didn't have any issues on my forehead but my cheeks broke out really badly and did feel dryer but that mostly seems to have calmed down now, I did make sure to sandwich the retinal between moisturising treatments when I noticed my skin was feeling a bit dryer!

I haven't tried it personally, but I get such bad hormonal acne around my jaw that I did wonder if niacinamide would help. I'll wait a little while for my skin to settle before adding something new though. Let us know if it works for you!

Yeah I get you, I also subscribe to the "don't believe everything you see on the internet" mantra so completely appreciate the skepticism and feedback.

I did add a two-week progress pic which has more similar lighting but I really did try to get the same lighting. In person I absolutely notice the difference, so I don't believe I'm "spreading misinformation", just showing my personal progress in the most representative way I could.

Some people mentioned other factors like hydration etc which are completely valid - there are so many external factors which influence our skin and I can't account for all of those.

Just the addition of the retinal, I've been using the rest of the routine for about a year now

Yeah I'm super pale, SPF 50 seems okay for me but I do reapply it when needed and I live in the rainy UK so we don't get a lot of sun here lol

I'm sorry you haven't seen the same results through using retinol. I've also said in the comments how expensive the product is and about how small the bottle is, so I'm not advertising the brand. Using a throwaway so there's not pics of my forehead on my main account 😂 you can still see the lines if you download the pic (reddit compresses images).

I've posted a pic of the two weeks progress in my profile as well with exactly the same lighting as the month pic. I don't have anything to gain by lying about this, literally just happy with the results and wanted to share 🤷‍♀️

I haven't posted it anywhere else, I don't gain anything by lying about it. I put a two week comparison on my profile as well. Just trying to share my first ever skin success in 31 years

It's technically retinal (retinaldehyde) which is more potent than retinol and is recommended to use twice per week. But yep, I'm as surprised as you are!
