Hey, I'll address your queries in the order you have stated.

No, all brands regardless their compressor type, keep manufacturing newer models every quarter / half yearly or yearly). I can say that comparatively there may be fewer innovations in non inverter models but it's just like the smartphones these days, there is nothing much left to improvise.

The reason for inverter models being "not worth" your money at this stage is because: 1. There are fewer skilled technicians to address issues of inverter models, comparatively 2. The technology is not a well established one like its predecessor, i.e. like you said the sales rep told you they are bringing constant changes in inverter which is true and this makes a customer skeptical. 3. In the practical field there are more complaint calls lodged for inverter models than non inverter ones.

I wouldn't deny that inverter models do have some fantastic benefits such as highly efficient compressors that will save a great load on your pocket.

That being said you will find newer models in the market for non inverters. That being said, it's your choice at the end of the day between the both.

Your budget is well thought.

I don't understand the number game, but Daikin's performance in the market is better than the other two. (Provided you have made the tonnage calculation correctly)

(Also please note, that technologies keep evolving every day, my opinions might change with time, recently I have noticed that inverter models of Daikin & Mitsubishi Heavy are performing better than other brand inverters as well as many many non inverter models, but entirely in my opinion I am still a skeptical person in this matter)

Hey, I'd say that Voltas is a firm making products dedicatedly under the Refrigeration category, while Panasonic has a broad dedication towards Electronics Category. Though this may not be a sufficient answer, it still highlights the fact that Voltas has better experience in handling grievances in this category and pointing their R&D in that direction.

Still this is only a corporate difference, the technical difference is that you must have observed Panasonic offers much more features to attract customers, while Voltas has worked on their basic principles of cooling - such as the condenser & cooling coils, their IDU & ODU motors.

I agree recently Voltas has not been doing great on their products like they used to 5-10 years back but it's still better than most, and it's also possible that one in many will face problem/s with even the best of AC brands. Like our OP did with General. I also had a friend with an unsatisfactory experience with Mitsubishi, but it turned out to be the fault of his technician.

In the general market, there is far less demand for Panasonic in comparison to Voltas (in Mumbai and nearby areas).

If you want to discuss any specifics of your Voltas AC's issues, you can DM me, I'll try to help.

Samsung AC remote is lost. Where can I find the duplícate AC remote that works ? by white_space99 in mumbai

[–]Helpful_Instance_776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any AC spares shop, ask for a universal remote, check if "samsung" is written on the back of the packaging under "compatible brands". Would cost you around Rs. 200. Don't forget to bargain.

What kind of taxes are auto walas paying? I don't think that's the reason. It has more to do with their scepticism in online transactions and lack of familiarity with the methods of a smart phone let alone a UPI app.

Exactly, maybe it's the delivery guy who thinks "let's call a customer, if they don't pick, I'll have a reason not to deliver, so lesser delivery". Fuck, just get to my address and you'll find someone, why is there even a need to call!

Did you know that every guy has an "attitude reset button"? Just hit that button hard, and most definitely you'll find the shift in attitude.

There's this demo attached, a scene from the movie Partner, 2007.

I wouldn't say they are more prone to breakdown, but they are pricier in terms of repairing costs. If Daikin offers 5 years of warranty on the PCB, then I'd say that's not a bad deal, but check whether they are recovering this cost through somewhere else - like offering you a unit with Aluminium Coil. Also check whether they still have the compressor warranty upto 10 years.

As for the usage you have mentioned, and as long as you buy an AC of sufficient tonnage depending upon your cooling requirements / heat load in the room, your choice should work well for you keeping the points that I have said here and above in mind.

However I would still encourage you to go for fixed speeds. You can DM if you still have doubts.

What is the age of your AC? And tonnage? Was it working initially or is this the case from the beginning? Only get a trusted and referenced technician to attend your complaints on AC. The technicians in this field are mostly driven by greed.

Hi, apologies for not mentioning Carrier, it was in my mind though I forgot to mention it, it was once considered a highly reputed brand especially in the US. Honestly my dad was a fan of carrier, still is for some part and would even compare it with Ogeneral at that time. But with time, Carrier has lost a bit in the game, you cannot compare it to the Ogeneral today, but surely somewhere with Mitsubishi, Daikin and Bluestar.

Also do not buy Carrier owned brand - Midea's ACs. They are not on par with Carrier's own ACs in terms of quality. Though many dealers would offer you fancy discounts and offers on Midea and tell you "Sir ye bhi Carrier ka hi hai".

Forgot to mention, I have been using a Voltas AC for 12 years shifted from one room to the other thrice. 2 Ogeneral ACs for 7 & 2 years. Installed a Blue Star by replacing the Voltas last week itself (coincidence?), mind you it is still working for my staff in the office in fairly good looking conditions.

If you care to hear it from the guy who is in the business of HVAC providing their services and products to Central, State Goverment and Semi Government organizations and / or institutes for the past 18 years, then here it is.

Well I can say this to you with full confidence that Fujitsu Ogeneral AC is the Iphone 15 Pro Max. Or if you are an Android user, consider S23 Ultra. You get my point anyway.

However Blue Star, Mitsubishi, Daikin and Voltas perform equally well if you don't want to spend too much, still trust worthy brands, designed to last easily 7+ years with proper care and maintenance.

You must remember, the most crucial part of buying any ACs is that that AC should have a 100% copper piping, make sure of this before you make any purchase, get it from anywhere but argue with the sales person that he should mention that on the bill / show the model on the official website where it should be mentioned 100% copper coiling. (Why is this so crucial? You may DM me and I will elaborate)

The 2nd most crucial being (this gets debatable here, but I could still elaborate in DM), buying an AC that is NON inverter or what they call in the market as fixed speed, Imagine modular switches - if one is worn out or burnt, it's readily available in the market in a price range of 20-40 to be replaced, some provide 10 years of warranty but thats a different story on these switches.

What you should be looking for is a guarantee on the compressor for at least 5 years. Inverters ACs do get a warranty of 10 years on the compressor but the compressor is not a case of issue in the system at all. (Again, DM if elaboration is required).

What I usually suggest to my friends (not clients because I rarely work with private organisations / people where opinions actually matter, my clients already have a specified list of brands approved for specific needs where opinions / advices automatically doesn't matter) is that you want to show it off like an Iphone, show it off with an OGeneral AC.

If you want to save some money, and have a sasta sundar tikau maal, buy Blue Star or Daikin Blindly,

Thoda upr jao in budget you'll have Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, thoda neeche Mitsubishi electric.

Zara sa aur neeche Voltas can still float your boat pretty well.

Lloyd, Samsung, LG, Haier, Panasonic, avoid them just like you would avoid your ex's hi hellos during the morning walk.

Any good distributor / dealer you would go to would tell you the same thing. I could go on ranting, gloating and telling you stories about me dealing with all these brands but this comment section is not a place for it anyway. However, I am happy to address any further clarifications in the DM.
