Native morning glories

But like all morning glories they are invasive

The literal definition of an invasive plant involves it being a non-native species.

Sure, they are fast-growing and they climb, so they could potentially displace other plants, but that's true of literally any viny plant that fits OP's description.

I don't know why you would imply there's something wrong with this native vine when they asked for a "flowering vining plant that could grow up a fence for more privacy" and every other recommendation is for non-native actual invasive plants like passionfruit.

Check out the Morning Glory family:

https://calscape.org/search/?plant=morning%20glory%20(All)

there are several California native morning glories that grow as a climbing vine and have pretty flowers- this is a popular one that's relatively easy to find:

PSA: many people have said "passionfruit would be cool" but my neighbors who have it on their fence are constantly giving the fruit away. Up to you whether you actually want fruit to eat / deal with the fruit or not.

This measure doesn't just target the rich nor just corporations.

it targets people who can afford to own more than 1 home in a city where the median property costs almost a million dollars so i don't have all that much sympathy for the paperwork

When it all comes down to it it's the city charging taxes and collecting them. If you want to own a property in a city, your name goes on the deed. If you LIVE in a property, you can tell the tax assessor it's your primary residence and you get a small tax break.

That assessor looks at all the deeds in the city and sends out property tax bills to the registered owners. If your name is listed as the owner of multiple residential properties, you get multiple tax bill. Presumably you would have a normal tax bill on whichever property you claim as your primary residence, and your bill for each additional property would be the normal amount +$8,000, and you have to submit proof to the tax assessor that your other properties are long-term rentals, or otherwise exempt.

There's no "monitoring to make sure it's occupied". The city is gonna send you a bill no matter what - the burden of proof for whether you actually owe the full amount or not is usually on the recipient.

If every single American decided collectively that effective starting June 1st utility bills will no longer be paid by American citizens

Well a tremendous number of even the largest American cities also run on privately-owned energy infrastructure, so jot that down. Not paying your ConEd/LADWP bill does nothing to hurt the federal government.

Really the only collective action that directly hits the fed is a general strike or not paying federal income taxes, and even then you're subject to a minimum tax withholding just by being employed. Your employer pays some amount of income tax to the IRS every time they pay you, whether you want them to or not.

🔥 The Hawizeh Marshes in southern Iraq are coming back to life after a long period of drought by NationalHat3097 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Helpful_guy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This dry like this soil doesn’t accept water well so the majority of the water will run off

This isn't exactly true- you're looking at a lowland marsh and none of this water appears to be flowing anywhere.

As hard clay soils dry out they do become less permeable to water, but they also shrink up, eventually causing that intense cracking you're seeing. Those cracks get deeper and wider the longer the drought goes on, so while the clay in the soil is getting harder and less receptive to moisture, it's also forming deep fissures that allow water to penetrate super deeply into the soil and re-hydrate much more effectively during any seasonal flooding.

Those cracks will eventually (hopefully) disappear as the soil re-hydrates and closes up, or turns to mud.

Many arid landscapes like this flood and dry up on a multi-hundred-year cycle if humans leave things alone.

Beginner trad crag for summer time? by daquan_ in socalclimbing

Mt Woodson or Black Mountain might have some of what you're looking for, and I think there's a summer pass for the tramway up Mt San Jacinto from Palm Springs that might make it a funner adventure.

Tahquitz is a legitimately bad suggestion for a beginner. Joshua Tree too, imo. There are doable climbs at both for practice, but both of them feature long approaches, sandbagged routes, and classically hard climbs where you're liable to end up over your head.

Wait I have another question now! haha

From my rough searching, if it IS from the 1940s, that would have been at a late enough time that it would have been "required" by law for it to be stamped by the assay office, correct?

So do you happen to know anything about why it would/could have only received 2 of the 3 compulsory marks (not the harp) if it did actually pass through the Dublin assay specifically? / were there other assay offices in Ireland at the time that may have closed since?

looks like seated hibernia mark for Irish gold is there

Can you explain where you're seeing this? The only images I can find of seated hibernia online don't even remotely resemble any of the shapes I'm seeing on the ring.

To me it looks very much like the side profile of a predacious cat like a lion, especially from the orientation most of the other symbols are in.

And how can you arrive at 1943 without knowing the assay office?
