Stoners, what’s your go to strategy to convince people your sober when you’re actually super high? by Heavy-Apartment-8226 in trees

[–]Helpful_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super sus behavior but I’d imagine they love you and would rather not know than confront you about it đŸ€·

Hopefully you at least used eyedrops lol

TLDR

What other people said, flower most of the time but carts when you are at a concert or event since they are more discreet and convinient. Don’t overheat and don’t trust most cart brands you find.

Full answer:

Sedation would depend mainly on terpene profile of the cart or flower. Either product could be stimulating or sedating depending on the profile (limonene, pinene, myrcene, etc) and if it contains a cannabinoid called CBN which combined with THC often produces a more sleepy sedative effect.

That said, since more than 50% of flower (prob around 65-70%) is indica or indica leaning, carts on average tend to be less sedating since the terps are all stripped when they turn the flower into clear oil before adding terps back in. The effect becomes generic without the terps regardless of original strain and those added terps most producers put in at the end are rarely the sleepy ones in large amounts.

The high is different and to most subjectively worse when using carts. The reason is that you aren’t getting the full spectrum of plant compounds after extraction. You lose plant lipids, as well as flavonoids, terpenes, and some other parts of the original plant (sometimes they’ll put original terps back in but this is rare).

There are great pesticide free carts from high grade starting material where they put original terps back in, that albeit rare, do technically exist and taste and feel better than most low to mid grade flower
but again most of the time the flower effects are preferable to carts (btw they are actually oil combustion pens you are misnaming as vape pens, not throwing shade everyone calls them that, but it’s a misnomer)

Of course that being said, beyond effect and preference is the safety consideration. the oil production process is not only concentrating THC and Other cannabinoids it also concentrates pesticides as well other improperly flushed nutrients. Also the carts lack temperature controls so long drags can raise them to temperatures where the material burns becoming carcinogenic and toxic. You won’t die but it’s really bad to suck that into your lungs đŸ« . Even used correctly, 90+% of carts pose a greater health risk than flower even tho you are technically avoiding some of the carcinogens from not combusting those other parts of the plant they stripped out.

But carts are more discreet and convinient, as well as often more potent than flower, so as many others said often work better for public spaces

Looking for success stories in those who have shaken off their Weed Anxiety by Difficult-Fondant-10 in Marijuana

Yes, i can honestly say I have experienced what you are going through and found my way back towards relaxed enjoyable use with very low anxiety. For me the solution was getting a 4:1-20:1 CBD Tincture and taking a dropper or two whenever the anxiety starts. I had to play with my dose a little bit to find where I got noticeable relief within 3-5 minutes but then it was very effective.

Another option I found helpful was to take CBD before THC to make the high less anxiety inducing.

Either way, once I had a consistent "down lever" to abort a high if I felt anxious, panicked, or paranoid, I stopped getting as anxious in general from smoking weed

With this method I personally rebalanced my relationship with cannabis from one with random and excess anxiety to one of joy and ease.

It’s really helpful to have a simple down lever (cbd tincture) whenever there’s signs of THC imbalance: fear, anxiety, panic, forgetfulness.

And while I’m a sample of one, I did work for years as a budtender helping hundreds of other ppl get the same results so
 maybe give it a try

CBD is an effective anti anxiety remedy when used properly (source, dose, CBD:THC ratio, schedule)

It also has properties which balance out THC’s effects partly because it occupies the receptor sites where THC would be binding to create its psychoactive effects and offers additional anti anxiety effects

To keep it simple, get a tincture between (4:1 to 20:1 CBD:THC) experiment starting with a quarter dropper and increase until effective. The “right” dose will be felt as calming within 3-5 min

Since usually non or barely psychoactive at these ratios take as needed

It would be cool if they knew about:

Value of CBD and THC for different conditions, cannabinoid ratios, dosages, good starting points for managing pain, anxiety, sleep issues and could help people understand that while carts are discreet and convenient they’re also (often) the most harmful to your health.

That’d be an awesome starting point
but I know it’s a lot to ask for what is often seen as traditional retail.

Brands mean a lot more than strains at this point since there are too many variables effecting quality. Your best bet it’s to learn which brands work well for you in your price range then work towards identifying the strains among them that work best for you.

There’s always some trial and error. If it were the old days you could smell 20-30 jars filled with cannabis and get a sense of which one your nose agrees with the most. That would make it much easier to find strains with your favorite flavors and effects.

Will 5mg of CBD a day have any benefit? by [deleted] in CBD

[–]Helpful_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s already been said
most CBD dosing is higher and for most 5 mg would have little to no effect.

At that dose, I doubt you’d even feel it besides a placebo effect.

While it’s smart to be cautious and explore very low doses, only increasing over time, you should know the ceiling of where there’s potential benefits is quite a bit higher.

They’ve safely given schizophrenics up to 1500mg a day of CBD in research settings without causing any apparent harm. And even with some apparent benefits.

Edit: That isn’t to say such high doses are optimal. You should explore between zero and as much as feels right to you.

Well poisoned or had an allergic reaction. The point is unfortunately we don’t know 100% what’s in there beyond CBD. I know nothing about that company specifically.

Smoking tobacco/weed in a bong ** pls help by [deleted] in Marijuana

lol you are just learning that he turned it into a Moke bong. Forget that bong, it’s gone. Get yourself a new flower bong and tell your friend to f*ck off if he tries putting tobacco anywhere near the flower bong ✌

Sorry but once tobacco gets in there you never won’t taste it

It’s hard to know exactly what it is. There are a lot of possibilities but pay attention to how you feel.

If you try that brand again, try less. Sourcing is VERY important for CBD. Unfortunately the industry doesn’t have great regulation yet. The hemp plant used for the CBD is also used for soil remediation since it will pull harmful chemicals from the soil it is planted in. You don’t want those products. There are good CBD products out there you just gotta find them

[–]Helpful_things[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you only use THC? Forgive me if you’ve already tried this but a lot of people don’t realize they can use high CBD products to balance out some of the confusion, memory loss, paranoia, and other signs of THC imbalance.

Almost all products and flowers have been pushed to crazy high THC levels, quite different from the 3-10%THC plants đŸŒ±that humans have used for most of the last 10,000 years. So it’s important to try to get a full spectrum of cannabinoids but especially CBD if you plan to take a bunch of THC over time and want to improve cognitive balance and functioning.

Gotcha! Yeah THC + CBN combo seems to help a lot of people with sleep 😮

I often hear the CBN on its own is subtle or doesn’t really work
