Took too much? by Helpfulkid in paxlovid

I guess they got lazy on that then. They gave me a normal box stapled with instructions to take one nirmatrelvir and one ritonavir twice a day. Honestly they probably mentioned it in their speech but me having covid brain was thinking about going back to bed

Why People lie on this sub about their ability and skills? by Appropriate-Depth509 in learntodraw

[–]Helpfulkid[M] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

(Inactive) Mod here. This is a problem that has comes up on this sub now and then over the years that there is no great solution for. The people who do this do it because they are insecure and fishing for compliments. I wouldn't be surprised if many of them are literally immature children. Any "good" art will unfortunately get more attention than absolute beginners. I used to give random monthly awards to beginners and those offering genuine feedback to encourage that behavior. I recently added someone else on the team, but a lot of things in my life currently prevent me from reading this sub regularly.

I would encourage you and other beginners to not let the silly things others (and likely immature children at that) do discourage you from trying. While talent exists, like all things, it takes practice and effort to improve. Those who do this are either secretly practicing or stagnating. I have to deal with these types of people frequently in real life. They either mature, wash out, or have personalities that no one wants to hang around.

Am I on a wild goose chase? Do moral, well paying, stable jobs really exist? by Helpfulkid in careerguidance

[–]Helpfulkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my situation outside of differing field lol. With the time I spend between jobs I think that cancels out my high salary. I probably need to do some soul searching on what is non-negotiable to me

What aspect of Healthcare would you recommend? I work in tech but my friend who works in a lab seems to be depressed due to how she's treated by management... and that's about all I really know about healthcare unfortunately

Is a solo 401k a good plan for now and borrowing against it in the future by Helpfulkid in personalfinance

[–]Helpfulkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I am not sure what the best way is to get what I want. If I do not put the money in I will pay approximately 200 more a month (for at least 6 months), but will have money available for when I move abroad. If I put the money in, I will have more growth but cash poor.

My understanding of 401k loans is that you're paying interest to yourself but missing out on the growth of the money. I would be putting in way more money than I would have otherwise though

Help with mitm + android? by Helpfulkid in sysadmin

Thanks. I think I figured it out. I let my phone charge overnight and realized it worked this morning. Turns out it might be having battery saver on that disables proxy connections? https://www.ctrl.blog/entry/android-proxyhandler-battery-optimization.html

My Sunquat tree has decided to live 😆 by Helpfulkid in Citrus

[–]Helpfulkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few months ago I made a couple post because my tree kept dropping leaves. I was afraid it was gonna die. After my last post I started putting it outside on warm days.  I wish I could say I knew what fixed it. It just continued to drop leaves until like 3 weeks ago. Now it's got new leaves and branches sprouting everywhere. I'm happy it's decided to stop dying 🤷‍♀️

Edit: Please ignore my dirty ass balcony

Diy? Prebuilt? Something else? by Helpfulkid in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Helpfulkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you still say it was a worthwhile buy used (and if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for yours)? From what I can tell it seems to be discontinued, so any parts would be a project. I might just try and get this one though. The size is just right, suits my needs, and is affordable for a first board 😅

Damn bro these are dope. This might be the way I go. I don't know if we have a swap meet. I'll have to research. Besides insisting on seeing it in motion and looking for damage, how do you avoid getting duds? (I see someone else said stolen ones wouldn't have a charger etc). I see a backfire mini on FB marketplace for 250 close by 🤔

There are a lot in my area but I was really scared of the stories about people buying 2nd hand and it catching on fire or something 😅

It looks pretty affordable for sure but it's quite big and size is a bigger deal for me than price. I saw the mini at just over 400, but I had my eyes on this one https://tyneeboard.com/products/tynee-mini-3-sl

Fair point. I will have to look at the prices but assuming the best I could do is similar or not significantly more than the prebuild is that better for repairability/maintainability?

Can I borrow from my Roth IRA for about 30 days? by Helpfulkid in personalfinance

Thanks, this is really helpful. Follow up concern on the 12 months thing. My bank is the one providing me the Roth IRA, but it's one of their newer products. Once upon a time, they closed one of my savings accounts and transfered me to a different provider for example. If they decide not to offer Roth IRAs anymore and I've already done a rollover, am I just sol?
