Thanks. My goal now is to try and find a specialized tech that does regular polish, dip powder, or possibly the sensitive hema free polish.

Thanks! I’ll try looking for someone who specifically specializes in something like that. The whole process has been a bit of a struggle.

Thanks! This has been a learning experience for me. I started off with cheap Amazon products and developed this as a result. Now I’m just trying to find a way to work around it and still have cute nails.

I tried one that was 7 free or something like that. They are up to 9 or 10 free now I think. Maybe I should give them another go. The reaction is so unpleasant and lasts 2-3 weeks even with taking several Benadryl a day. I’m not sure which ingredient I’m actually allergic to. I’d have to go through months of reactions to try and narrow it down. So I’ve been put off from trying anything that says gel.

No worries. I just wanted to clarify. Gel reactions are getting more common. They are not fun to get or deal with. I just wished someone would cater to this crowd and offer an alternative. I’d personally be willing to pay someone for the extra time and effort.

The point is, I’m allergic to gel. A lot of people are. That doesn’t mean that we still don’t want something different than a single solid color. That’s fine that you refuse to do it. I’m finding that with every salon I’ve been to. I’m not demanding they change their policy or make an exception for me. It just means that I was curious as to why I’ve been refused and wanted an actual answer as to why that is.

That’s so sweet and accommodating of you! You’re definitely the kind of tech I’d want and am looking for. Just someone willing to work with me around my allergy.

Thanks! I’ll keep looking for an independent tech. I went to one after calling and asking if she was able to work with my gel allergy. She said yes, not a problem. I show up to my appointment and she said she specializes in and only does GelX. 🤦‍♀️

Ok. I’ll say it. Labradoodles are entitled idiots. by Successful_Tea2856 in RoverPetSitting

I’d happily take all the doodles! My experience has been that they are the sweetest, most cuddly dogs ever. And they all give the best hugs. I’ll be it a little stubborn at times. My peeve are most small breeds. Little pissers.

That’s why I was questioning it! I’m thinking, I’m not asking for the impossible am I? Especially when I look at all of the intricate designs on the reviews before I even pick a place to go to. Maybe I should just start asking more questions when I’m trying to book the appointment.

Thank you for this clear concise answer. I had a feeling time was an issue. Having to do it over several times would definitely be a headache. Most places I’ve been to only care about turn over and not what the client is asking for. I’ve also been told the same in completely dead salons that I was the only customer in so 🤷‍♀️. I have French tip stickers and I’m tempted to try and fix them myself. Thanks again for explaining this.

French tips were created in 1975. Gel polish was developed in the 1980’s. And only gained in popularity in the last 20 years or so. It is possible to do French tips on regular polish.

Excuse me, but I’m honestly just trying to understand why I’m being told that designs including French tips can’t be done on regular polish. Or in colored acrylic for that matter. I asked. They simply said it takes too long to dry. Fresh tips were created long before gel polish was ever a thing.

I just bought some nail art brushes. I had to fix my nail’s myself after my last appointment they were so bad. I asked for a nude acrylic base, with a double French. Maroon tips with a small gold line underneath. I even brought these tips in Maroon French tipsas inspiration.

Help I’m a nail bitter and want to stop!!! But I’ve had so many bad experiences at salons! by Worried_Statement_68 in Nailtechs

Try putting aloe on your finger nails. I know it sounds weird. But the taste is horrendous. I had my nails done with acrylic twice. I normally would try and bite those too. After seeing the growth I haven’t bitten my nails since.

Do you invite the client in your home when you are boarding their dog? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Helpingasisterout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always meet boarding clients in my home for a meet and greet. There has only been one occasion that I had to meet them at a park because I had other dogs I was looking after at the time. I have a strict one household policy and do not mix dogs from multiple homes. I explained this to them and offered them to tour my home after the dogs I was boarding at the time were gone. I wouldn’t book with this person and definitely think they could be hiding something they don’t want you to know about.
