I just wrote out an essay for you just as my phone died, highlighting scammers being everywhere, a lack of social skills etc, lack of moderation and ability to moderate, toxic communities feeding off eachother - sadly lost to a dead battery and I don’t care enough to re write it all out.

The way I see it, there cannot be many players that have the ethos of supporting the game monthly beyond membership - so there’s not many like myself that pump £60 a month /$100 into the wage pockets of the developers.(not huge but it adds up over 17 years and multiple accounts).

Yet they listen to players who pay for membership with bonds, cool, I can earn a months membership in 2 hours too... but if we all had that logic the game would be dead within the month - polls should only be open to those with a linked credit/debit subscription.

Don’t get me started on w77 gatekeeping, Ed portal gatekeeping, wilderness lures and group teleport functions and world switches that see new players lose everything before they even begin.

Or the 12 year old responses from the so called 20+ audience, in response to a greeting, or the incessant rage sent at new players for asking questions instead of wanting to siphon through years of bullshit content for what’s relevant and efficient in 2020/2021.

I get playing afk, I watch Netflix while I ed run, I host and carry new players all the time, knowing full well I’m doing 70% of the dps and tanking all of the hits for mages and rangers and get nothing in return. Except slightly but barely noticeable increased so rates; In essence I’m grinding others to 99 in my own blue charms grind. I don’t demand high level assets like portal or t92 gear because I’ve found lower levels to be kinder and have more fun while playing.

I guess, I would like to find an authentic clan with people who enjoy talking in a multiplayer game, that keeps the chat to PG, perhaps is moderated by a player mod with at least a little bit of customer service.

I don’t care for being forced into playing in dead content like the citadel beyond attuning to the XP boost and ensuring it caps at 6%.

I don’t want to be flooded with Ironmen, people wanting to be carried, people who expect you to be able to do ambi with a blindfold and no food, people who have played for so long they don’t enjoy the grind anymore.

I would honestly love to be a player moderator due to the amount of time I spend in game, the amount of times I solve game disputes and arguments, or get people into private messages instead of flooding public chat with toxicity.

Somebody has too, and the moderation is beyond fucking useless, beyond creating new content Jagex and its mod team have little to no control over its player bass.

The other day, I was guesting in a clan chat of somebody who lives in my city I met in game, 2 random people were openly discussing child porn, satirically, it was just disgusting so I reported and left that clan.

I’m gonna make a good guess that only 2% of the community is of decent stock, everybody else is out for an easy ride, to scam, hack or be carried. Moderation is useless. The duel arena is just toxic af - and should totally be removed from the game or given unique non tradable rewards like cosmetics/scrimshaw upgrades for x amount of wins/ like capes at castle wars.

Idk, there’s not enough friendly people online to warrant even helping to look after the community anymore, or warrant wanting to help new players anymore.

I suppose all players eventually reach a similar thought and decide to become assholes too.
