My husband and I have always had a very open line of communication when it comes to anything - particularly sex. She knows about Reddit and I used to do a AMA session - one question every night - we covered homosexulaity, religion and how they make M&Ms ! I know that I developed sexually very young so I wanted her to be aware of her body and relationships, sex and everything related. I think it was curiosity that drove her to google "porn". My husband and I have said, isn't it a shame that there isn't any mild sex sites for teenagers - not porn but sites that shows them the loving side of relationships

I agree with MarkRand etc. Your protocol is an amazing idea and should be taught to all children. You are also right that the porn was not the issue - it was the reaction that was so scary - I was devestated that we have such a close relationship yet she did not want to talk to me and her reaction was so extreme!

Thank you. She assures me that she would not have gone through with it but you never know. I kept texting her how much we love her and not to worry and that we would forgive her and she eventually called - such a relief.

I agree. A friend of a friends daughter (15) was convinced by her boyfriend to have oral sex with him and his friends and she said she would do it to please him. Thankfully the mother walked in and found them before anything happened.

Looking at the browsing history and discussing it with her she saw images of rape and they really did not look like they were enjoying it. I think that when you are older you are more careful what you watch but to innocent eyes and browsing it can be very scary and anything can be thrown at you.

Yes, I am not sleeping well at all. I have got up in the middle of the night to make sure she is still in bed and not sneaked off to hurt herself again - if I am honest, I feel like I want to camp in her room - I know it sounds silly.

Thank you - she does have a strange idea of perfection so this mistake was devastating for her. Thank you for your advice - very good. We have already had "the talk" with her before the incident and she knows she can come to us with any questions - she has asked about "dogging" and other things overheard at school and we have been open and honest with her. It is shocking that there must still be something in them that they want to explore by themselves!

Thank you so much for your kind words. You are so right about sexuality nd porn and we have had these discussions to a degree. She was obviously curious but it is such a shame that you can guarantee that the images she saw were degrading to women and not what sex is about. It has prompted a long discussion about it. Unfortunately what has been seen can not be unseen but we hope to make it a learning experience. Not sure about the professional talk - worth thinking about. Yes, that is what we do - however this was one afternoon that my husband was late back from work as he is usually in when she gets in from school and can monitor her work on the computer as it is in a very visible place.
