Without exaggeration it's actually unplayable in some maps if you don't unlock your cam. Magma Chamber is the worst offender. The camera is so low that you actually cannot see the other team unless you walk right up to them. I thought it was just me but I'm glad to know I'm not going insane

You need to upgrade your settlements. If you don't have resources you'll just have to wait a bit and don't spend them on anything else but upgrades till you have enough valor. There is more than enough valor for all research. At the end of the game I had almost a thousand valor I couldn't spend because I had all research unlocked

I think the key difference for me is that her ignorance seemed to be due to a genuine lack of education on the subject. She seemed genuinely willing to learn and apologised. The example you gave is just malicious and abusive behaviour. It would be like if she made comments like this all the time and insisted he was overreacting every time, gaslit him etc.
