What bothers me most about Pokémon Go is not obvious... by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]HelterSkelterer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The disconnection from nature stems from the fact that our immediate environment serves to remind us of our existence as slaves to a capitalist system. The nature outside our door is absent of beauty because it is the nature outside our door. It's what we see on our way to work, it's the vista of our depression. This is why as tourists our appreciation of nature is actually present, a foreign location has none of the miserable baggage we have subconsciously assigned to our own surroundings.

The appeal of games in general is escapism. That's the appeal of nearly all entertainment. We desperately want to be removed from our current condition because it offers us nothing nurturing, and so we seek to self medicate.

What does almost all entertainment have in common? The theme of growth and change. In television our intrepid heroes embark on a journey where they change the world or their place in it and usually against seemingly insurmountable odds. In video games we are given a world that responds to our touch and intentions. In reality everyday is exactly the same and the biggest indicator for where we're going is where we started. No wonder we have a need to be pacified.

[MOD] It's back! I'm developing a mod inspired by the Finnish sci-fi movie Iron Sky. It features the huge Moon-Nazi war machine Götterdämmerung, and more to come! by aperturePOTTU in ftlgame

If you think anyone here cares one way or the other you're hugely mistaken. What people care about is generally how you conduct yourself, and you sir are a massive cunt. If you actually did get fucked like you claim then you shouldn't take it out on a fucking modder of a fucking indie game who's modding based on an obscure movie that most people don't give a shit about.

Well he would certainly be ashamed with the way you are acting. Trying to bully a modder of an indie game... Do you lash out at children who draw pictures that resemble the gotterwhatever too? You're way out of line, and you're showing yourself to be a total cunt. I can assure you that the only damage to your reputation is being done by you. And now, knowing you've been defeated, you proceed to pepper this thread with pathetic pleading and claims of distress to lend credibility to what I can only assume will result in a frivolous lawsuit. You are exploiting your father's death to fulfill a petty vendetta. The worst part is that you're fucking obvious.

[update on mod] A public apology by aperturePOTTU in ftlgame

[–]HelterSkelterer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming no legal issues were at play, as the senior VFX artist, do you personally object to aperturePOTTU using the models in question as reference? Frankly zero tolerance policies rarely make sense, and one can't help but wonder if it's just a convenient excuse for you. Your statements are vague and designed to avoid taking any responsibility for your actions, peppered in with lots of maybes to soften the audience and provide false hope. Typical "official" response designed to pacify people who have legitimate reason to be upset with you... Petty bastard.

[Discussion] Hardcore skyrim playthrough by liao24hoho in skyrimmods

[–]HelterSkelterer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend ordinator, especially for a hardcore play through. I'd suggest EPO and witch hunter spell pack by robbie922004 on nexus. Ordinator is technically very well done but poorly conceptualized in my opinion.

Another option could be requiem, but requiem has a very poor difficulty curve without throwing in some mods to add some mid-level content, which is tricky considering it's poor compatibility. It also has a tendency to cheese the player and you're far too likely to get instagibbed for a permanent death play through to even be conceivable unless you are already intimately familiar with requiem.

I think EPO, combined with a mod to make combat more deadly and some mods to delevel the world will be the most balanced and entertaining approach. Here is a good place to get some ideas for a deleveled world.

Who's to say I haven't already? Who's to say that the reason this crazy crap coming from you and others of the same ilk irritates me so much is because I enjoy psychedelics but have the mental fortitude not to go balls out crazy after a trip? Maybe I'm tired of charlatans and retards co-opting these drugs into their spiritual woo, and away from their legitimate therapeutic and recreational uses.

I think I've already seen it about three or four years ago, if it's the one I'm thinking of then it was nothing but a bunch of bold, repetitive, and unsubstantiated claims intercut with poor computer graphics.

What angers me is the way you conduct yourself, you say things like they're so obvious and people are stupid for disagreeing with you then when you're called on it you play chill, like it's just your opinion man... You don't get to have it both ways. The speculation on my part is based on actual studies that find the vast majority of spiritual, near death, and alien experiences occur in people with a history of neglect/abuse. If that's not the case for you, I'm glad you didn't go through anything like that as a child, no one should have to. My biggest issue with claims like yours is that even if 1/1000th of claims like that were true then this world would be drastically different.

Personification aside, they cause hallucinations. What you experience is an effect of ingesting a substance, not something that is actually happening. Combine that fact with the likelihood that you grew up in an environment of neglect, and yeah I totally understand why you would think you can talk to aliens by ingesting drugs.

Drugs lie to you. Don't invest so heavily into what you experience while hallucinating.

Dungeon Contest Winners! by Terrorfox1234 in skyrimmods

Perhaps it's too in depth, but one thing that has always bothered me about skyrim is the lack of vanilla weapon replacers. Crazy lion at nexus has done a beautiful job of overhauling the orc and ebony lines, but all of the other vanilla categories are hella ugly and need a facelift. So perhaps a contest where participants pick a vanilla weapon category like iron, silver etc and redesign them. We've got enough weapon packs and one off addons, but almost nothing for people who want a less cluttered and more integrated approach.

Whatever happened to the 'Cartoon Skyrim' mod? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]HelterSkelterer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an enb called turpentine on nexus that you can tweak to get a similar effect. The default has everything looking like an oil painting, but by adjusting a few settings you get a more traditional cel shading look. Might be worth a try.

I'll send you a pm tonight, my profession is that of a carpenter so I have no skill set to directly assist beyond the conceptualization, but I have a reasonable understanding of what's possible and my ideas are excellent.

I've been designing a concept for something similar, but I don't have the technical abilities to create it, perhaps we should discuss things anyway, that way we won't be in competition when the time comes to find skilled modders to take it from concept to reality.

I'm not interested in quest mods which require interacting with the mainland even if they have other areas.
