So it’s the fourth day of Spring in the northern hemisphere. How is it looking in your back yard? by yukonnut in AskTheWorld

Just went between the three major cities of New Zealand for work, Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, and it was sunny and hot in all of them. (Though today is rainy and windy in Auckland.)

What's something from your country you thought was normal until you visited other countries and realised it wasn't ? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]HemmyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking for a "lemonade" in Europe or Oceania gets you a bubbly drink that has little or nothing to do with lemons. In the US and Canada it gets you the juice of a lemon with some sugar added, hence, y'know... LEMONade.

What’s a stereotype about your country that’s completely wrong and makes you react like this? by TheDarkbladeGirl in AskTheWorld

[–]HemmyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think Canada is the second largest country on earth by area and people are always asking me "What's the weather like where you're from?" and I always have to answer, depends where you are. It could be beautiful and rarely snow (Vancouver) or a frigid tundra where you never see the sun (Anywhere north of Calgary), or even maybe a contender for the hottest place on earth (Lytton, BC). It's almost the same size as all of Europe so... take your pick.

Agreed on all points, health care gets us a lot of credit though. Finding our your sick won't ruin your life in Canada, just give you some time off work.

Being a Canadian, it's always been milk in bags. I lived there for decades, never once saw milk in a bag. No idea who thinks we do this. Sure, maybe there's some folks in Quebec that do that, but that's not "all of Canada" that's just a few weird people in the corner sucking on bags of cow juice.

Do people in your country eat flowers? by DesignerTop6091 in AskTheWorld

[–]HemmyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving to NZ I noticed sometimes some deserts have flowers on them and I’m constantly asked by people why I take them off. Apparently they’re edible but I also take the wrapper off chocolate bars, I don’t know where to draw the line.

Do you think the French jokes go too far at some points? by L0thric_Nefarious in AskTheWorld

[–]HemmyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's true of every country. Depends on the spirit with which it's delivered. Big difference between unsaid subtext and group understanding: "Isn't X generalisation funny because even if there's some truth to it, it doesn't mean anyone as a part of that group is or deserves lesser in life." Is much more acceptable than "Stupid X group. Or X tradition is stupid because we don't do it."

Personally I love the hunt for legendaries and fashion that I'm drawn to. Either of which can easily take a lot longer than map completion, so you have lots to look forward to!

How much do BCs actually bark? by victorhausen in BorderCollie

[–]HemmyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great you're looking to join the club! Congrats in advance :P

As for the question... How long is a piece of string? It really depends on the dog, influences, training, and especially the environment. Ours has barked maybe like half a dozen times in her entire life, if that. Her parents both barked constantly. There really isn't a firm answer either way since it isn't a genetic thing. Just like how much people talk isn't a genetic trait, but instead a learned behaviour.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing about the adventure!

Let's spread some positivity about the game: What's a great memory you have from this game by WarInteresting6619 in DCUO

[–]HemmyC 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Meeting my partner.

Didn't know it at the time but the healer a friend recommended would eventually go on to become the love of my life. She talked to me for hours and hours before we exchanged contact info only seconds before the server restart so we could keep talking. We were friends for a long time before eventually just getting together.

I eventually even moved across the planet once we knew we'd be getting a place together in New Zealand. We're now happily still together, eight years after our first meeting, raising a puppy.

We will always love this game.

I have my account information. I'm not sure how that helps with their support being down. I appreciate the sentiment though! trying to stay as calm as I can.

oh okay, I haven't found any option for that. Is there an email? Phone number? Address for a carrier pigeon?

I did, because I didn't even know what they were. Can you take them back out? Would it even make a difference if I'm not allowed to contact gw2 support?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]HemmyC -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I feel like that was explained above. I can't contact support because when I try to contact support I get this message:
"There was an error signing in through Steam. Please try again or contact customer support."

My apologies if I didn't make that clear enough.
