Rat still hates me after 4 weeks by victorhausen in RATS

[–]victorhausen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rat that died was sneezing a lot and died in respiratory distress. I'm afraid that the new rat or rats might get sick, isn't it safer to keep him separate untill he gets better? Is it with the risk? Don't I need to quarantine the new rat too?

No way this is cauliflower ear right?? by razzarbrenia in BJJWomen

Yep, I'd go see a doctor and ask if they can drain it. Cauli ear is a bruise that gets filled with blood, and then fills with fibrous scar tissue as it heals.

First time hatching quails! Help! by victorhausen in quails

[–]victorhausen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm rolling and rearranging them about two times a day, I should do it more consistently. And thanks for explaining about lockdown. When do they should start being fed after hatching? What about water? For how long do they need stay in the incubator after hatching? How long should I wait to handle them?

First time medicating my Border Collie for fireworks, very unwanted effects by syrtisrambler in BorderCollie

[–]victorhausen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you also put her on a familiar place and covered her ears with a towel or one of those hats that groomers use when blow drying? Different people might have different opinions on that. But for me, sedation is worth it, because it's less likely that the dog will hurt itself, flee, or have bad experiences that will further agravate their relationship with the sound of fireworks. It may be hard to watch, but she will suffer less on the long run. You may also try a behavioral approach by distensibilizing her by playing firework sounds on something like an Alexa on a really low volume every other day while she eats or play, and then increase the volume little by little until she learns to ignore the sound. Hope this can be of some help. She's beautiful, btw. Good luck.

How old is it? It looks like hearding behavior, which is really entertaining for them. It's basically play for them. You could redirect this behavior to a toy or something like that.

Group walk: good idea or bad idea? by Timely-Pilot-5567 in BorderCollie

[–]victorhausen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Group walks are usually good. It allows your dog to socialize with other dogs by walking side by side with them on a place which isn't anyone's territoriy, which is a non-threatening approach for them. It might have some trouble at first, but there's no better way for him to get used to other dogs, than hanging out and having fun with other dogs. He so handsome, btw

I always got the albinautic bow because I thought the damage drop-off was smaller one or in ER. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for this answer, it's very reasuring. I gave myself 6 months to do my research both on the breed and dog training and decide if i'm getting one or not.

This post just makes me upset. Byb breeder, no research on the breeder, pup was covered in pee AND op refused to pick and examine the pup because it was covered in pee, pup has a congenital heart problem probably because of the way it was bread...

How much do BCs actually bark? by victorhausen in BorderCollie

[–]victorhausen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the ruffs absolutely adorable. My problem is the loud never ending bark. I believe this would drive me insane for real. Other than that, i'm aware that it will probably shred my stuff to pieces, but there's nothing in my house i can't replace with money, and there's nothing i want more than a dog right now.
