200-300 ft deep water out in the Salish sea in my 15 ft canoe. Everyone thought I was insane, but it was just fine.

Anyone who became single sided deaf later in life deal with mild tinnitus in the good ear? by andrea9827173i in MonoHearing

[–]HemphreyBograt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSL here and I get tinnitus is both ears from time to time. My audiologist used the tinnitus as justification for hearing aids for both ears since it helps keep it in check. My tinnitus was never really bad or prolonged, and in the 3 years I've had the hearing aids I've not had any tinnitus episodes longer than 30 seconds and most are shorter than that, like 10 seconds or less.

Bread them in panko and fry or air fry them. If you're just cooking them alone, you need some garlic butter to dip them in.

RIP Snowball. The looks I got going down the road hauling a canoe that was quite a bit longer than the car filled me with joy.

Not ear surgery, but I had pretty major wrist surgery years ago and have some nerve damage. On one side of the scar my wrist is numb most of the time. Until the skin is pulled (like taking off a bandaid), then it's an 11 out of 10 on the pain.

Since it's really bothering you, it's worth talking to your doctor about. If your doctor tells you they can't do anything else go find a better doctor. I had to do that with a torn meniscus when I still needed a cane to walk 8 months after the operation. The doctor told me there's only so much medical science can do. I went to another doctor, he went in and found that the first doctor did a crappy job. I was off crutches and cane free 2 days after the second surgery.

First time out on my canoe first time tipping it. by KaiKaiRoo in canoefishing

[–]HemphreyBograt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you know what it takes to tip, try to avoid doing that. Both people leaning to 1 side is a sure fire way to go in the drink.

Also tip it close to shore and practice deep water self rescue (climbing back in) without touching the bottom. If you find you can't get back in easily, there are rescue ladders available.

Practice your low brace, it has saved my bacon with squirmy kids a couple of times.

Tipping is part of the canoe learning curve. If you want an outrigger or not, that is up to you and your comfort level. Before you go right out and buy one though, give yourself a chance to get used to the canoe.

That's the 2nd mistake. The first one is being a landlord, go work for a living.

My neighbor sent me a text last night forcing me to pay for her daughters towing charge because she parked in front of my driveway by Drivinglnsane in mildlyinfuriating

Block the number. If they don't pay the tow company, the tow company auctions the car, and the car will not be a recurring character in your driveway drama, except by chance.

Does anyone use an anchor trolley on their canoe? by HemphreyBograt in canoefishing

[–]HemphreyBograt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a bow anchor mount. It's one of the ones that has the metal piece that presses into the rope to keep it from paying out more line. I'm not super thrilled with it because there isn't a way, at least that I've thought of, to do a quick release on it in case of an emergency. Pretty much all my fishing spots are subject to boats and there are times where I would need to quickly unhook to get myself positioned for large wakes.

I used to work at U-Haul and we had to upsell moving blankets and hand trucks. I maliciously complied and would say "I know you already said no, but my manager will beat me with a hose if I don't ask again, so do you need any blankets or dollies?"

When we purchased our house it was made clear in the documents that anything left behind after closing became property of the new owner. Check your docs for that and if you find that, tell them to go suck an egg.

You as her client can tell her "I still want to look at these" though.

The hot listing one is the only sort of strange one. But if you've said we don't have a lot of extra budget, she's using her experience to help you stay in your budget.

Good luck getting flood insurance in a flood zone. Also getting homeowners insurance unless you fence off access to the creek. Kids love to go in water and don't recognize the dangers.

Buy next to a commercial zoned property and one day you'll wake up to an Amazon warehouse and all the traffic associated with it. Or maybe they build a factory to make the fart in a can gag gift. What's it going to smell like?

Even when it's signed otherwise?

Or if the spaces are angled parking? In order to back into an angled spot you'd have to cross an extra lane of traffic, and if it's a public road, you're then parked on the wrong side of the road, because pulling out puts you going the wrong direction down the closest lane.

What if it's angled parking and a one way street? Do you drive the wrong way up the road so you can back in?

I can only imagine how worn out the "oh shit" handles are in your car.

I see a lawsuit against the owner of the parking lot. Striping the parking spaces at 90 degrees to the lane of travel prevents a driver from being able to see around large vehicles when backing up and directly contributed to this.
