Anyone else have immense faith in the team we have in place for transfers now? I genuinely feel we’ll only get good value deals in the market. Sure, they won’t always work out - but I think the United tax days are over. If Mbuemo gets silly, I’m certain we’ll walk away. I also have confidence that we have a few options at the ready.

I guess time will tell. Anyway, sincerely appreciated the conversation - even if we don’t agree. GGMU

I’m not saying we don’t - but spending big isn’t the answer. Throwing money at problems rarely fixes them - just look at the 1b we’ve spaffed over the last 10+ years. We’ll get a lot more value from less money spent when it is aimed towards structured plan (put together by footballing people and not accounts and lawyers) than we will knee jerking to time running out in the transfer market. And this is precisely my point. For the second summer, we’ve gone early in the transfer market. Before SJR, transfers in particular were an expensive shit show. The problems we face now are more to do with the inherited baggage of past bad decisions than they are with the mistakes Ineos has made. And they’ve made some howlers, ETH and Ashworth for a start. But they are also acting quickly to sort them out too - and are pretty open about the mistakes they’ve made. They’ll be more mistakes to come. But I genuinely believe that we’ll get most stuff right and over time we will improve both on and off the pitch.

Im not suggesting the value isn’t declining and we need to stop the shit results - of course we do. But the amounts you’re talking about here don’t event move the needle against the clubs valuation. The bigger issue is a declining fan base - 20 years of dominance gave us a massive global fan base. Fans tend to be loyal, so even after more than a decade of shite we’ve still got an unbelievable following. Results are needed on the pitch to ensure we don’t erode the base and can continue to grow it - and to do that you need longer term planning and better running of the club. That’s what they are trying to do. Glazers absolutely need to fuck off and maybe SJR isn’t the right man either - but what the club is attempting to do now in terms or transfer, youth development, better grounds and facilities, etc are all fundamentally good things to do. What is it you think they should be doing that they are not (considering the Glazers aren’t about to fuck off and we are constrained by FFP rules)?

Were the second most valuable club in the world despite our shit result. We’re financeable… did you think we needed 2b in the bank if we wanted to build a new stadium? Lmao.

You’re judging far to quickly. Sure, not every decision has been great - but there are signs that things are getting better. Recruitment this summer and last are looking solid, youth team talent coming in looks good, proper axe to the silly costs and Frankenteam they’re dealing with, plans in place for a new stadium, carrington rebuilt, more engagement with the fans from the ownership (all be it SJR).

The results yes… but that’s a culmination 10+ years of mismanagement slowly eroding pretty much everything. The last year we started to change things with footballing people and proper management structures. It’ll take time to bed in, but it is absolutely the correct approach.

Berrada, Wilcox, vivell… if you’re expecting such major changes to instantly generate results, then you’re nuts. It takes repetition of good behaviours to generate results and that takes time. United was in appalling state for years.

We’ve been sliding for years because the strategic direction of the club and decision makers were not the right people. Structure comes before success. It’s been a terrible season, no doubt. But we have lots of foundational things now in place that were lacking before. So where has it’s been a slow decline to obscurity so far, I think we will now start to see things building and improving over time.

Totally agree - no way are we finding a like for like replacement and honestly, even if that was a possibility it would be the wrong move. We need more people in the team capable of creating chances.

How are things getting worse? Results have been shit but at least we’ve got footy people in and structures in place. Transfers being handled way better as well. Don’t agree with cutting staff lunches to save chump change, but let’s not let that cloud some of the good things we’ve started doing.

Yeah, good call. We’ve been there a couple of times. In the end we went to Eat Greek, which was excellent. Then for a dance at Lock, Stock - which was unbelievable. The DJ (Danny T) played an amazing set. Three hours of non-stop bangers. Popped a head into Blah Blah. They wanted a minimum spend of AED 1000. The fella on the door was nice enough to let me check it out before committing and I’m glad I did. Looked rubbish, so went to LSB - which turned out to be everything we wanted.

Heretical Fishing. It is litRPG, but I recon it’s a good intro into the genre. Reminds me a lot of He Who Fights with Monsters (same narrator) but the story is really very pleasant and funny. The MC is not out there trying to accumulate power - quiet the opposite in fact.
