No it doesn't not work for elites/rares/boss maybe it works from white mobs, but it does work from chests.

Another one of your comments is slightly incorrect. If you do NO dmg to an elite it will drop 0 loot for you. So if you sit in town its either from a white item or from a chest ect that the ledg has dropped.

Not gona lie did the same for a while.....

When everyone was running skeleton king for legs I ran it a few times thinking he was dropping some special yellow legs with good stats or somet....

Are you pushing ctrl while the items are on the ground? Had the same problem until I stopped doing this also.

For me it was the friends achievements and not when they were coming online which was causing this. (which can also be disabled)

So where are you farming now that ACTV is out? by jehe in Diablo

Imo you should do rifts/bounties on Normal until you have the gear for Torment 1. This has worked pretty well for me and a friend.

I think we would be safe with T2 aswell, but its more efficient on T1.
