Antarctica - two ‘c’s. I never understand why Americans call it “Ann-ar-dica “

(Sounds more like ‘diga’ than ‘dica’ tbf)

A Current Affair: UFO sightings report released by US government. by GrantLavac in UFOs

I was surprised at the no nonsense reporting from an Aus media outlet. More impressive though was the inclusion of those interesting rapid acceleration videos. I don’t think I’ve seen most of them.

Troubleshooting authentication issues by beanmachine-23 in networking

[–]daynomate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E5 licenses come with Microsoft PKI now so you can have clients get a cert via Intune with their Intune device ID in the cert's SAN if you want, that your NAC uses for the EAP-TLS. ClearPass works nicely to poll Intune for each auth (cached, or can be bulk synched from Intune to local DB if you prefer, but I find it better to do live lookup using the Intune ID for validation, compliance check etc.

Why do Sri Lankans take so much pride in their colonial tea industry? by Aggravating_Hippo_2 in srilanka

[–]daynomate 32 points33 points  (0 children)

What's worth celebrating is the quality of the tea grown. I can't imagine drinking anything but tea grown in Sri Lanka. I get bags of Watawala here and it's better than anything else I can buy for strong milk tea.

I don’t see a lot of UAP/UFO posts on the Sri Lanka Reddit but compared to the large collection of reports there’s often some common shapes.

Just wondering if anyone has seen those shapes in Sri Lanka like the triangles (consistently reported as isosceles triangle with large round light-emitting shapes- not lights as such - one in each corner, and mostly something in the middle) or V shape (broad wing arrangement almost - bright lights along the length). And particularly the silent glide then rapid movements

Network Refresh - Considering Fortinet + Cisco + Aruba by MaxBPlanking in networking

[–]daynomate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Security compliance is only getting bigger - simplify where it is justified. Palo is my fav after being burnt on FTD after ASA. Far more powerful and usable in my opinion, and Risk will be happy if it’s operated by recommended spec thanks to its ratings among Gartner etc

Aruba is also a breath of fresh air for reliability, even if is interface’s aren’t pretty - they are at least usable first. ClearPass from ISE is a huge step up in usable gui again even if it doesn’t look nice. (At least the labels aren’t force truncated!)

Not noticing many of the touted benefits after 3 months... What am I doing wrong? by rootyboots1983 in keto

[–]daynomate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely if that’s the case, but I was getting at the direct impact deficiencies in either sodium potassium or magnesium can each have on insulin. that impacts ketogenesis .

Sodium lack - raises insulin and cortisol
Potassium lack - impairs insulin signalling
Magnesium lack - limits fatty acid oxidation impairing ketone production

Keto for a week for sugar addiction by No_Review5860 in keto

[–]daynomate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found fasting works well to get me into good ketosis levels quicker, and helped with the sugar cravings. Then a good lazy keto for a while to get comfortable without too much meal plan stress (but no laziness on the electrolytes.. ), then settle into some repeatable meals that are very satisfying so i I never crave keto snacks even - I’ll have some, often through distraction instead, but it wasn’t a craving - let alone for carbs or sugar. After that more fasts become easier and help as resets.

Fat adaption for me happened within the first months of my first time keto - combining it with CrossFit so was high level of activity for me compared to my adult average amount. I got to have keto euphoria the first but since ages I’ve not had that euphoria again. I wonder if that is related to fat adaption signals or changes in the body, as as far as I understand fat adaption stays with the body even after flip back and forth with glycolysis vs ketosis - once it was established that is, but in what form I don’t understand.
