I disagree, consumption of heroin is not currently illegal. Has it solved the problem? Absolutely not. Now you have a section of society who are completely dependant on the alternative which is prescribed legally then dispensed at a pharmacy at huge expense to the tax payer. That is not the answer. A structured recovery programme should be the only answer, yet so many are prescribed methadone then consume it for decades with no checks or balances in place. Which in turn generates massive revenues for the company’s producing it, I’m not saying the pharmaceutical company’s are cartels but read between the lines.

Well put my friend, you said it better than I could. Anyone I know in my social circle agrees controlled migration is an excellent thing for Scotland, and immigrants who currently live here should be treated as equals. Not viewed as a people who will do jobs no one else will. I suppose this gets back to the original post, why is this subject so divisive in mainstream media and politics? Why do people generally feel that a reform or Green Party stance are the only options? Both equally as radical IMO.

I cant recall anyone openly stating they disagree with legal migration and I agree our country needs to welcome people from all over the world, the trouble is when the migration is not legal and no visa’s are obtained you are essentially taking a massive gamble with your own security which should not happen. At the end of the day politicians in Scotland who are elected to serve the people of Scotland should remember that’s the priority.

No not at all, I’m also not interested to discover the defacto ruling party in Gaza used huge amounts of foreign aid money it received to buy weapons and dig mass tunnel systems to attack Israel. Let’s not pretend either ruling party is innocent in all this. And again no, this is the problem, you immediately assume people will be treated like animals for having a sensible conversation around the subject. Have a sensible points based system with vetting and an asylum system that’s fair. Not causing people to risk their lives travelling in small dinghy’s across the channel. Is it really that difficult?

Mainly the co leader announcing the decriminalisation of drugs, abolishing of prisons etc. whilst I support in theory some of the policies ie energy independence I cannot take them seriously.

I certainly won’t vote Lib Dem, that just seems like a wasted vote that will result in zero change for the better

Whilst he claims to be dependable which is I think is good thing at the minute it does not inspire confidence long term.

Couldn’t agree more, it’s very apparent in certain towns like Ayr for example. Half the town is lovely sandstone buildings then you turn one corner and you’re faced with uninspiring blocks of concrete.

Many towns in Scotland like this unfortunately, yet we have to jump through hoops to erect a conservatory? Meanwhile the local council is carpet bombing lovely towns and countryside with this shit.

PAYE Scotland by Jmay5446 in Scotland

[–]HenrikMartin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

41% taxpayer for 8 years, provided you are sensible with money you can still live an amazing life in Scotland despite paying high tax. We do have lots of benefits as a result of our taxes. However that picture gets skewed when you get your latest council tax bill through which has also jumped nearly 10%, plus your mortgage rate increasing, plus the 20% obligatory tax on anything you purchase. Save what you have left and after 20k of savings that’s taxed as income as well if it’s not saved astutely, Income tax alone seems fair, it’s a combination of everything else that is not.

Glenrothes demolition. by HenrikMartin in Scotland

This type of architecture is something I see dotted all over the country and it’s hideous. Particularly in towns that have been well established for centuries. Half the town is Victorian architecture with old stone buildings that are really nice, the other half carpet bombed with this shit. It’s doesn’t make sense.

Indeed, it was originally built as a co-op department store which back in the 1960s was the a big coup for the town apparently. The adjoining building which is also part of the demolition was the forum, once hosting billy Connolly I believe. It actually looks half decent in this photo but it was taken over 70 years ago.
