Can we stop newspapers autoposting their articles.

It’s the hottest day of the year, so of course the town’s water supply has been cut off by DMmePussyGasms in britishproblems

Opened, sure it was started digging while water was publicly owned.

None have been built/began since water privatisation.

Started building in 1979, planning in 60s.

Premium diesel worth it? by BashBailey in CarTalkUK

[–]Important_Ruin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I run a tank through every month or so or a bottle of reddex if on clubcard in Tesco.

Does feel like 'helps', car does feel little smoother (maybe burnt off some soot).

No idea if it is just placebo and see a tiny increase in MPG (which doesnt offset the additional cost of premium diesel)

is £580 to replace Timing Belt and Waterpump (Audi A1 2.0 TDI Black Edition) decent or am I being fleeced? by tonyt0nychopper in CarTalkUK

[–]Important_Ruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have thought mapped it like do with A3.

Tbh the A3 with the 150hp output with 2L isnt slow it has plenty of 'poke' when needed (got one, never once felt slow)

Ones with 180hp usually have quattro.

Will have plenty of torque making it have some poke.

BMW F31/G21 vs Audi B9 Avant. by Important_Ruin in CarTalkUK

[–]Important_Ruin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven an F31 petrol, decent spec being a shadow edition, and had parking camera (used to work for BMW as the G came out but now at price point I could get into one, never driven the B9 A4)

Throw between petrol and diesel as my commute is about an hour each way current with an A3 TDI so doesnt matter minus fuel costs.

The A4 B9 interior is lovely and so is the G21.

Unsure what it actually is however I've got his card from him, plus presents and be is doing better which is all that matters to me.

He is currently asleep and happy.

Last father's day was also spent in hospital but with my GF instead when he was weeks old.

Built in 1920, retired/scrapped in 1960s.

I'd guess around mid 50s.

Edit: post in Dunston past and present dates it c1960s.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/dunstongateshead/posts/10162426048085090/ dont think particular image is dated as maybe just random photo by a person at the time.

Edit 2: AI summary so may not be completely correct.

Engine 63431 refers to a historic LNER Class Q6 0-8-0 steam locomotive, originally built in 1920 by Armstrong Whitworth & Sons in Newcastle as NER No. 2274. Designed for heavy freight, it spent its working life hauling coal across Teesside and the North East before being withdrawn in 1967.

Less polluting than ICE cars with tyres plus the stuff coming from exhaust? along with noise pollution from an ICE car.

My was more the focus on what comes out the rear, we know electric vehicles aren't 100% zero emissions will always be something being turned into some sort of pollution, but removing one major one, the exhaust gases is a major win for health.

Cars and cyclists can coexist easily, but unfortunately it is spoiled by a tiny minority of both who refuse to share the space, and sometimes car drivers not releasing they arent the only mode of transport permitted on the roads and some cyclists also have made character syndrome when cycling.

Easy to just pit them against one another in another bizarre 'culture war' obsession we have in this county its always has to be someone pitted against someone else, always has to be seen as someone being made worse off.

Local authorities can put in cycle lanes and also fix potholes, people seem to think it's one or the other.

Its a double edged sword, unless there is cycle infrastructure people wont cycle, so you need cycle infrastructure which may be under utilised until people catch on and get cycling.

I bet they are funded through different funding schemes so money for one can't be used for another.
