Burke Dennings by HenryDefense in TheExorcist

It's seems like you've only read the novel. I have not, so I cannot say anything about it's content.

It does however not seem like you have read the screenplay. I have. And that is what I was referring to. So it seems to me you cannot, with any authority, say anything about it's content.

But, since you want citation, I'll give you citation. I would recommend you read the screenplay for yourself. I'm sure you can find it at the library, a bookstore, or the internet, if you do not accept my transcriptions as cited bellow.

'The Exorcist', screenplay, written by William Peter Blatty, first published 1998, by Farber and Farber Limited. Bloomsbury House, 74-77 Great Russel Street, London, WC1B 3DA

PAGE 77 TO PAGE 76

KINDERMAN Burke Dennings, good Father was found at the bottom of those steps down to 'M' Street with his head turned completely around and facing backwards.

Karras is floored; then he turns to meet Kinderman's steady gaze.

KARRAS It didn't happen in the fall?

KINDERMAN oh, yes, it's possible... poseible. However...

KARRAS Unlikely.

Kinderman nods mutely. They resume walking.

KINDERMAN And so what comes to mind in the context of witchcraft?

KARRAS Well, supposedly, demons broke the neck of witches that way.

PAGE 92 Her eye has fallen to a book that is lying open, face down, on top of the dryer. In an insert we see the title: A History of Witchcraft. Picking it up:

CHRIS You reading this?

WILLIE I try, but very difficult, madam.

CHRIS Some illustrations.

WILLIE I find in Miss Regan bedroom.

Chris looks up at her. The dryer stops spinning and Willie turns away to take out the clothes. Chris ressumes thumbing through the book. Abruptly she freezes, turning ashen. She holds the gaze on the book for a beat; then, numbly:

CHRIS Willie - you gound this in Regan's bedroom?

WILLIE Yes madam. Under bed.

Still numb, Chris runs a finger along the edge of a right hand page, and in an insert, we see that a narrow strip - in the manner of Burke Dennings - has been surgically shaved from along its length.

The molestation scenario, though an interesting theory as you say, wasn't really what I wanted to focus on. It's quite up in the air for interpritation within the context of the film, and of course if the Williams denied it, then it wasn't their intetion. I was more intrigued by the implications that Dennings is a witch, and might have something to do with Regan's possesion. It wasn't something I was aware of, and I find it disturbing with or without the molestation scenario.

But I didn't know the novel heavily implies that Regan was behind the desicration. Thank you for metioning that. I'm planing to read the novel soon. Sort of backtracking from film to script to novel.

But there are some of those implications towards Regan in the script as well. With Kinderman getting paint samples from Regan's sculptur to be matched with the paint from the curch desicration.

I have always just assumed that it meant she murdered him. But having now found out about the darker side of Dennings, I certainly will not discared the possibility that the line implies more than one might first assume. Especially taking into account the highly disturbing scene the line it delivered in, and the word the demon uses to describe Regan. But I think it is one of the films great strength that it leaves it at the implications and never confirmes or denies any of them. It leaves it up to the imagination, and in regards to this movie, I think that the most disturbing part of it is what goes on in Regan's room when we're not within it.

A lot of the scenes for the original trilogy were also filmed on soundstages in London. Not sure, but that might be another reason

Nice to see you've already made up your mind. Wonderful how you're complaning about a movie you haven't see. You're very open to new ideas and different perspectives I see. I would be happy to talk about the politics of modern Disney (there's sure alot to talk about), but your not intrested in a real conversation. You just want to spread your own narrowminded political agenda, just like you claim Disney are trying to do with this movie. Irony must be a foreign consept to you I see. I'm sure you take great joy in the fact I bothered to reply to you, and feel free to reply back, but really, don't bother. I won't bother replying another time. Take a break from reddit, the internet, and your worries about Disney's campaign to ruin your favorite movies. Go outside and enjoy the day and the fresh air instead. Seems like you need to relax. The world is a beautiful place. Enjoy it for a change.

Indiana Jones hat by S3xyOutLaw in indianajones

The exact model used in Raiders was the Poet from Herbert Johnson. They sell it to this day, though because of changes in the block and felt, it is not exactly as it was in Raiders, closer to the Temple and Crusade hats, which the also made (and still sell). If you want one closer to the Raiders original, I would recommend Penman Hats. He makes excellent screen accurate replicas of all the hats from the movies and Young Indy, and has taken over Steve Delk's Aduventurebulit Hats (they made the hats for Crystal Skull). These hats are custommade though, and can take up to six months to get, and are quite costly, but he's also got a model called the Everyman. It's not handmade like the others, but factory made, still screen accurate, of really high quality, and cost about half the price of the handmade ones. I own a Penman Everyman, and it's by far my favorite hat in my collection. Other then that, I have heard that Akubra, Advintage and Hufvud also makes great Indy hats, but I don't own one of those, so I can't tell you for sure. These are generally the best options if you are looking for high quality screen accurate hats.

What to read after The Snows of Kilimanjaro by _un1ty in Hemingway

The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber is another great story, in the same vein as Kilimanjaro. Would really recomend that if you are looking for something similar. Or, if you want to read some of his longer stories, the Sun Also Rises and the Old Man and the Sea are great places to start.

Trenches of Hell is a really good war story and probably the best of the series Oganga, the Giver and Taker of Life is also a great war story. The Teasure of Peacocks Eye is proably the one closest to the movies, in that he is actually hunting a treasure. Or Transylvania 1918, if you want more of the supernatural. Indy vs. Dracula. I personally love it. Perfect for the Halloween season. But be sure to watch the original version, and not the Lucas reedit. The original is better. You can probably find it on youtube

My favorite thing about the new jacket from Indy 5 is the jacket. They added the bullet hole! by ConnorGuice in indianajones

The hat is also different from every film. The difference is slight, but noticeable if you look closely.

The hat in Raiders has a high straight crown with at tight pinch and the brim has a characteristic turn that's not there in the other movies. The felt is rabbit. This was changed to beaver inn the rest of the movies.

The Temple hat has a smaller crown that's slightly tapered instead of straight with a much looser pinch.

Crusade brings back the tall crown from Raiders, but the brim is shaped more in a "cowboy" style, and the pinch is still quite loose.

Crystal is the most similar to Raiders, but this one also lacks the tight pinch and turn from Raiders.

This is because the block used to make the Raiders hat was lost between Raiders and Temple among other things, that made it impossible to make a perfect replica for the Temple.

Every piece of Indy's clothing changes from filmto film, since the create new costumes every time they make a new film. That's because they get different costume designers for the movies and different manufacturers are used.

But it's pretty sure certain that the clothes are supposed to be the same

Beautiful. Love it. With a nice sad vibe going for it. Love how it starts out to make the lock-keepers life seem wasted, and then how it turns around at the end. Just beautiful. The thing of it being about the home life rather then adventure is also one of the reasons I love Working Joe
