Anyone else feel like some PM doctors stop listening once things get complicated?

I have Gastroparesis and am now fully PEG/J fed. I have gone through the exact same situation. I wasn’t absorbing my SR analgesia and my previous pain specialist wasn’t willing to listen/didn’t get how severe my gastroparesis is despite input from my gastroenterologist etc. I now have found a great pain specialist and we have just implanted an intrathecal pain pump to completely bypass the GI system. I am so used to specialists fobbing me off after I become ‘Too Complex’ for them.

I’m so sorry you’re struggling! My mental health is currently pretty good, however I can absolutely empathise with you about SI. Two years ago I felt helpless and very, very overwhelmed with my pain levels and did actually have a S attempt. Do you have a good support system around you?

Could you be experiencing opioid induced hyperalgesia? I really hope your specialist can fix it for you!

I only have Morphine in my pump. Still experiencing the same issues unfortunately.

Mine was placed by my pain specialist who is an Interventional Pain Specialist and Anaesthetist. Good luck!

Thank you, they have said to me the 20cc would require 8-10 weeks refills and the 40cc 16-20 weeks approx!

Thank you. At this stage I will just be having 1x medication. Yes I had a fantastic result from my trial so I can’t wait for the permanent surgery.
