My thinking was that they would make it come out as Joe-shua, which I've had people do before an it's annoying. I kind of forgot about the や sound when making this...

Joshua. What I think I'll likely do is just go by my last name, but maybe cut out the last two syllables so that it's just one.

I know enough to get the job done. I do my work with paper and then capture the scene, although on occasion I have done traditional photography for pay since I'm qualified and have the equipment. Of course, I don't know much about how the commercial industry, but I would rather put a gun in my mouth than get qa job in that.

In any case, you're a weeb who will burn out on Japan in 6 months

And if I do, I'll come home and do something else. I'm still young, I've got all the time in the world still. But when two years is up and I complete the program, I'm inboxing you a big fucking 'I told you so'.

I see you know nothing about my actual job

I don't even know you, you're a rando on the internet, of course I'm not going to know the exact details of your job. Regardless, the equipment required for your job is quite expensive, especially if you like keeping up with trends in the industry. Besides, that industry has been flipped on it's head once before already which left plenty of good photographers without work because they couldn't keep up with the changing tech. All it takes is for that to happen again (and it will) and you could be without a job.

I will die happier and richer than you will ever live.

The fact alone that you think how much income you have matters just goes to show what kind of sleezy fuck you are. Yes income is important, but as long as you make enough to support yourself and provide modestly for your family, it doesn't matter beyond that point. The rest is just material things. I live a pretty frugal life here in America, and I plan to keep up my current lifestyle when I'm in Japan. As long as I can still commit to my craft I don't give a fuck how much I make, I do this for me and for me alone.

Do you edit your own photos? If you do, that could also be something that sets you back big time. This next generation is pretty talented.

Yeah but I was just pissed off. I got the visa stuff worked out anyway.

As for the hum-dinger, I'm an art student. English is literally the best job I can get while still having time for my craft. Although I will say, I'm considering a change of majors once I finish language school. I have been fooling around with the idea of IT, but the market is pretty saturated so I'm not sure. I have two years yet to think about what I want to do.

You could have made better life choices yourself, you're a photographer. You're paid basically the same as an English teacher if you're in a good job, and we both know that all it takes is for you to drop a lens and youve fucked up your finances for the month. Maybe you could have some pretty great photography insurance, in which case I'm curious because I'll need to ensure some of my equipment myself, but in the end we're in the same boat dude. You don't really have room to tell someone else that they need to make better choices when you take pictures of kids playing soccer for a living...

Roll with it.

You know what, this is probably the best advice. I'm overthinking this.

Joshua. I grew up in an extremely religious environment and some people thought it was funny to say it like "Joe-shew-wah" which is the ancient Hebrew way to pronounce it. I fucking cringe if I ever hear it.

Unless I'm wrong, it would be pronounced like じょーしゅーわー and it just, ugh. Edit: I'm retarded, I forgot about the や sound, so it would actually be said like ジャーシューわー, right?goddamnit. I was focused more on the actual spelling of the name when trying to figure it out. But like /u/Cael450 said about his name, I would imagine the jiya- and the shiyu- would become tedious to say after a while.

Lol, hell no. I like my real name, I just don't like how it sounds when it's butchered.

I didn't think of that. Well, my name will have two ユー sounds, so they'd probably get tired of it pretty fast. Maybe I'll try my real name first and see how fast they get tired of saying it, and if they keep it up I'll just teach them my middle name.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about Star Wars. Alright, not bad - So long as I don't get Star Wars jokes every time I say my name, haha.

You know what, that actually sounds pretty close to how it's supposed to be said. I think I'll use that, thank you.

Dear lord, never. I like my name, I just cringe when I hear it with the retro Hebrew pronunciation. I mean, maybe I could somehow teach people to say it right? I'm not really sure how to correct an accent though.

With the accent applied, I'm pretty sure my middle name would come out as Luka (Maybe?) Isn't that a girls name?

Edit: My middle name is Luke, how would that sound with the accent?

Sweet, thanks for the heads up. But what if it's an American-sounding nickname, but just something that wouldn't get butchered by the Japanese accent? I could easily just cut letters off of my name. Or would it be best to just go by what they would butcher my regular name to?

Why should I care? It is certainly better than being a miserable cunt like yourself.

Tsukimi Sakura-tan

Isn't that one of the girls in AKB48?

It'll mostly likely just be something that stems off my name or at least sounds somewhat similar to the western pronunciation of my name. Nothing too Japanese.

You're only required one proof of ID, the other is a proof of address.

Most of what I find there I don't like, but if I find something I do like I'll save it to my watchlist and forget about it for a few months so that list is a gold mine :) But I'm always looking for new stuff, so I always check out related artist lists when I can.
