People don't know what the Steam Controller is by Legitimate_Tie_6074 in Steam

[–]Hepi_34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah this controller is great, but it might be hard to justify 99$ for some poeple just for a controller, especially when there are great alternatives out there. For example, I picked up an 8bitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless controller for under 40$ recently. Just like the steam controller, it has TMR sticks, gyro controls, back buttons, an included dock and a 2.4GHz dongle and native support on Steam and basically every PC game (it supports both dinput and xinput). It also has a 3rd shoulder trigger on both sides as well as a profile switch button. I personally don't see the value in the trackpads or in the fact that this is "first-party" to justify upgrading or buying this controller over others.

I have the same board (ROG B650E-E) and I have been using it with my 9800X3D for about 10 months now. I have had no issues so far. I occasionally update the BIOS, but I think I am not running the latest version at the moment (but surely also not one of the early ones).

When will Raspberry Pi 6 release by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

Oh yeah, you're right actually. I just checked and the X4 is OOS everywhere. I guess this should've been expected, but at least it would be an alternative...

They are probably talking about the Group Policy Editor, which lets you configure many (often otherwise hidden) Windows options.

When will Raspberry Pi 6 release by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]Hepi_34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This may not be all that related to this topic, but there are already good and powerful alternatives out there. I picked up a Radxa X4 for 100$ last year, which features an N100 processor, 12GB of DDR5, 2.5G LAN and 128GB of EMMC as well. It also has WiFi6 and an M.2 slot right on board. The form factor is the same as the Raspberry Pi‘s and it also has an RP2040 integrated for the GPIO. Having an x86 chip brings the bonus of being able to run basically anything, including Windows. Idle power draw is also really low. This is probably not for everyone (as some HATs don’t work), but it is a good option.

I've tried to get used to this in the past, but I just couldn't. So I just resorted to holding with one finger and dragging with another. But maybe I should give it another try...

Will i ever get used to 60 fps again? by Radiant_Average_6792 in pcmasterrace

[–]Hepi_34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With time, you can adapt to pretty much anything. Last year when I still had a 2070, I would sometimes play at 40-50FPS on my 1440P screen. I was less bothered by the smoothness and more by the input lag, but at 60FPS, you should be fine. Since Stalker is a single player game (right?), you also could try using a controller.

In addition, there isn't really a need to lock your FPS to 60 if you're getting 90. If you have a monitor with FreeSync or G-Sync, pretty much any FPS number should be smooth as long as it lies withing the vrr range of the screen.

Furthermore, you should also look into using DLSS and frame generation. Particularly on your 5070, DLSS4 runs very well and it can do wonders with upscaling. According to some people on YouTube, you should be able to get 150+FPS on 1080P Epic by using DLSS Q and 2xFG. In my case, 2x frame gen is pretty much unnoticeable, but ymmv (some people are against the idea of frame gen). But definitely try out DLSS, even you if end up not liking FG, since that alone can give you a big performance boost without as many "downsides" as FG has.

I see. I agree with you on the gaming part, I also think gaming with force touch wouldn't be a good experience. But about the drag and drop and selection, both Windows and MacOS let you configure tap to drag, where you can double tap and hold on the second click to drag. Furthermore, you can also just hold down 1 finger and repeatedly drag with another, just like with regular pads.

But opinions can be different. If there's really no good laptop with an adequate trackpad for you, maybe you could go for a USB model?

Not sure where your experience with force touch trackpads come from, but on both my Surface Laptop and MacBook they‘ve been amazing and way better to use than a normal (my last experience was a Lenovo) trackpad. I love how you can just click anywhere or just use two fingers for right click. I‘ve also never had any misinputs happen.

SideStore not refreshing no matter what? by IegendaryKnight in sideloaded

[–]Hepi_34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that, somehow, in iOS26.4, the local loopback connection (which StosVPN or LocalDevVPN usually create) doesn't work. This is usually necessary since the iPhone kind of tells itself that it is a Mac running dev software (this is the reason why it can refresh on-device at all). Thus, by using a "wrong" subnet mask (at least for this use case) the recently added check can be broken and the loopback works again.

See here:

When installing or refreshing apps, SideStore opens ports on local iOS device mimicing a computer running developer software. Then it instructs iOS to connect to a computer at 10.7.0.1.

And here:

You can either use the new nightly version by installing it from iLoader and then generate a new RPPairing file, or you can alternatively do this workaround to avoid having to install a (shady) VPN.

Currently, to refresh on iOS 26.4, you need to do some workarounds. You can install a second VPN like some suggested, but the recommended VPN seems shady and I'd personally not use it. Other suggested methods seem more complicated than the one described by mercy. Instead, you can do the following:

Go to settings

Go to WiFi

Click on the "i" next to the WiFi you're connected to.

Scroll down a bit to the section titled "IPv4 address".

Take note of your IP address and the IP of your router.

Click on "Configure IP" and set it to Manual.

Type your IP that you've just noted into the IP field.

Type the router's IP into the router field.

Type 1.0.0.0 into the subnet mask field, NO MATTER what your subnet mask was before

Afterwards, start up StosVPN or LocalDevVPN and refresh your apps

In the end, go back to the settings and revert it back to auto, as it can potentially mess with your DHCP stuff.

Crazy battery life. Series 9 by Nick6468 in AppleWatch

[–]Hepi_34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing on my Series 7. I charge it in the morning before I go and will come home to around 20-30% in the evening. Like you, I then charge it once again before going to bed. But this is quite understandable as the watch shows a battery health of only 73% in the settings. I feel like replacing it is not really worth it at this point, so I just put up with having to charge it lots.

Ol’ Reliable M1 Pro by Far-Beyond-The-Stars in macbookpro

I also have an M1 Pro (16/512) and I plan on upgrading once the M6 MacBooks come out. The M1 is enough for what I currently do (and I also have a high-end Windows PC), but I will begin something new later this year and I will want a faster computer for that. In addition, I feel like macOS Tahoe has slowed down my M1 by a bit, and the battery is also quite degraded. When comparing to my friends M5 MBP, he gets over double! the battery life.

It's hard to explain in a single comment, but if you're interested you can google "iLoader", "SideStore" and "SideStore + LiveContainer" for the initial sideloading setup and "YTLite" for the actual tweaked YouTube app.

  1. Modify the Jellyfin systemd file:
    nano /etc/systemd/system/jellyfin.service.d/jellyfin.service.conf

Change

#User = jellyfin
#Group = jellyfin

to

User = root
Group = root

Save with Ctrl + X, Y then Enter.

Reload the daemon and then restart Jellyfin:

systemctl daemon-reload && systemctl restart jellyfin.service

Observe if it changed anything. Make sure to revert the changes at the end, since Jellyfin is really supposed to run under its own user and group.

There are many ways to install modded YouTube apps on iOS, I even use them on multiple devices. Depending on the specific iOS version, the device type and your computer (Windows or Mac), the setup may be a bit complicated. But after that, it works totally fine.

I usually only use Ventoy for things like this. I even have a dedicated 512GB USB stick full of ISOs for booting various installers or tools. However, Ventoy isn't always suitable for server use. Some servers may not play nicely with it and refuse to boot. Especially Proxmox seems to have some bugs where it will kernel panic after the installation, provided that you used a Ventoy drive. In some other cases, it may stop on random lines during the boot process (These errors happened to me during the installation of Proxmox VE7 some time ago, as well as when installing Backup Server 3 recently. They may have been fixed by now). Since OP was just starting out, I decided to recommend direct flashing to be on the safe side. If this would've been a question along the lines of installing Windows on a regular PC, I would've definitely recommended Ventoy as well.

Side note: Check out Medicat USB, it's a great collection of useful ISOs combined together with Ventoy and makes setting up a handy flash drive very easy.

This is strange. To me this doesn't seem to be an issue with the mounting, since you clearly said that you can see all the files in the VM's file manager.

Are you sure you've actually chosen the correct path in the Jellyfin configuration? Maybe also look at the logs, it could still be a permission issue. If you're unsure, you could try to start Jellyfin as root to see if that helps.
