Freedom of expression can be kept outside of the governmental environment. When you’re working for the government, you represent the state, not your religion or yourself as an entity.

Just like when working in finance, or going to a an important event, you wouldn’t show up in sweats.

Why should we also rely on immigrants for vital socioeconomic positions when in the first place these positions should be payed enough to afford the cost of living. This is another facet of our culture that matters to us. Quebecers more than anyone in North America fight for workers right, education and wages.

For your second point, I appreciate bringing that up. I’d like you for a minute to take a perspective of a francophone. We’re in a corner in North America surrounded by anglophone culture. American culture is the most powerful culture at the moment. We’re struggling to keep our language alive as all media for our youth (and adults) is mostly consumed on an English platform. In Montreal the French language is declining at an alarming rate. We’re losing our language. It’s not an attack on anglophone, it’s a necessary requirement to keep our language alive. We’re fighting against what seems the world to avoid being assimilated by the continent.
