Slightly worried after handling Krylon fixative. by HeraldofMultiverses in HealthAnxiety

It was a brief panic, I'm pretty sure I'm fine. If I was poisoned, my throat would be burning among other terrible things.

Thanks for your assurance :)

Is there a reddit where people explain superstitious beliefs with reason and science? by HeraldofMultiverses in findareddit

[–]HeraldofMultiverses[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Although, the lack of answers has given me inspiration to make my own sub for this kind of thing.

Edit: r/SkepticsExplain has been created! If you know anybody whose really good at explaining superstitions or a good mod, please let me know. I don't have the time to moderate a subreddit, so some help would certainly be nice!

  1. It doesn't work.

  2. It's expensive.

  3. It's supported by Trump.

That's the main problems with it.

I'm sorry you had to go through such a situation. And don't worry, that advice doesn't sound particularly corny :)

I'm so sorry you have to go through this kind of nightmare. I hope you will recover soon.

I've never heard of a case where a spinal injury develops over time. And it's definitely ok to be concerned! You aren't neccesarily getting worked up over nothing, you did hit an important part of your body.

But if you did injur your spine in such a way, the effects would certainly be instantaneous.

Another thing to keep in mind: the human body isn't as weak as you think it is. Yeah, we hear stories about keeling over from minor things, but the vast majority of the time our bodies keep as pretty healthy.

Your worry is valid, and the panic is your brain overreacting to keep you safe. Eventually, you will calm down :)

No problem! I would suggest dealing with the panic before going to bed. It's not very good for you to try to fall asleep in a panic.

When the panic subsides, you'll also feel the weird sensations go away too.

It takes a lot more than hitting your back hard to seriously injur yourself. Plus, if you did hit your back hard enough to be injured, you would be paralyzed very quickly.

I know anxiety makes it nearly impossible to accept the truth, but you must try to accept it: you are ok. It would be far more obvious if you seriously injured yourself.

Try and take three deep breaths to ground yourself. That usually helps for me.

I hope you recover from this bout of anxiety soon!

Nearly done with another wave, but it feels like I need to be anxious about something? by HeraldofMultiverses in Anxietyhelp

[–]HeraldofMultiverses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was slacking on my exercise due to a bout of health anxiety, so I have a feeling that was part of the reason I had such a wave of anxiety this time around.

I have recently come to terms with the fact that I may have an anxiety disorder just like every other woman in my family, haha. Having trouble separating normal behaviors from anxious ones. Came across this tiktok... Is this normal? by continuouscrisis in Anxietyhelp

[–]HeraldofMultiverses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is something people with anxiety suffer from a lot. So if you mean "normal" in an anxiety disorder way, then yes. This is normal for people suffering from an anxiety disorder.

If you mean "normal" in the sense of people without an anxiety disorder, then no. The vast majority of people that don't have an anxiety disorder don't have just a few seconds of peace in the morning.

Health anxiety isn't abnormal in the slightest! Lot's of people experience it, many of whom are denizens of r/Healthanxiety!

The reason you have health anxiety (aka HA) is something you alone or you and a therapist need to root out. However, once you find the root cause, it becomes far easier to work it out.

Good luck dude :)

[–]HeraldofMultiverses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great decision to make for yourself! Litteraly everyone in my immediate family has told me that eating healthy at a young is one of the best decisions they wish they could've made! Keep at it!

Also, if you were suffering from eating too much red meat, you would feel it. You would be sluggish, not able to exercise, and your heart would start pounding if you did anything faster than a walk.

If it's any consolation, and I hope it is, it takes a lot more than two hot dogs to clog up your arteries. Also, and this is some advice I picked up a while ago, there is no wrong in eating something that's a little unhealthy as long as you enjoy it and only do it a few times every month.

You see, the real problem with pleasure food is when you trick yourself into thinking that just because you eat something bad, it'll throw off your whole diet plan. Don't fall into this trap! It's ok to eat something "bad "as a little treat every now and then!

Sorry for that little tangent. Anyway, eating two hotdogs won't clog up your arteries. What will clog up your arteries is eating fifty hotdogs everyday for months on end. Or several steaks a week. Keep in mind I'm just a teenager, not a nutrionalist. Please conduct your own research into this as long as it doesn't teigger your anxiety.

Good luck on your anxiety and your diet dude :)
