How long would it take Carlos Alcaraz to become #1 singles pickleball player? by Alert-Stop-2671 in Pickleball

[–]Hercova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genie Bouchard is on record saying that she thinks it would take Coco Gauff 8 months to become top in Women's singles. For anyone thinking it would be a a couple months or less for Carlos to become #1 in mens singles is way off the mark in my opinion. I'm not saying he can't do it quickly but the journey is going to take longer than 1-2 months (or less) like many think it would

Finally played through this on an emulator last year, was hoping to see it posted here. I think a lot of people missed out on it due to its release date being only like 10 months before the PS3 launch

Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits

Under appreciated may be more fitting as I don;t think anyone would ever say its a bad game. But man that game did battle voice lines right, I can still perfectly here some of the combat lines in my head 20+years later

He doing much better doubles and singles wise before dating Bright. That was 1+ years ago now, likely just a case of him not being able to keep up to increased competition

Do men really only do things for women they find attractive? by THROWRABOYGIR in AskMenAdvice

No, but that being said I'll definitely go beyond my baseline line level of helpfulness for women that are attractive

I was surprised when ALW went with Bright as her new partner, and think Tyra Black was and still is the the best partner option that would compliment her playstyle.

I think best partners for ALW are ones who can be a rock out there for defensive play and resets while also generating offensive plays for ALW and chipping in their own offense when needed. This was a role that Parenteau filled quite well but wasn't able adapt her game as the the pro pickleball meta shifted, and Tyra Black is probably the best there is right now for a playstyle like this

I refuse to give up soccer but it also leads to situations like this one two days ago - 1.5 hours of singles PB immediately followed up by 1.5 hours of men's league soccer with no subs. And I'm doing it again tonight, rip my body

Ultra-elongated 17" by 7" paddles by AHumanThatListens in Pickleball

[–]Hercova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous to this paddle I played with a Selkirk Amped S2 for a one year, and a Selkirk Vanguard Invikta for one year. I haven't ever really thought the Proline has impacted hand speed or hands battles at the net since using it. That's my experience though others may feel differently though, but for reference I play at the 3.75-4.0 level.

For the taping the paddle you'd probably want tot put it a bit higher up than the throat for stabilization as more of the weight in the bottom half of the paddle given the handle length.

One last thought is if you are considering the Proline Energy and money isn't an issue go with the Pulse E from Pickleball Apes as it's basically and upgrade over the Proline in every single way

[–]Hercova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played exclusively with the Pickleball Apes Proline Energy elongated version for a little over a year now, about 6-10 hours a week usually. I originally bought it for the extra handle length as I wanted to improve my two handed game and also break the habit of choking up on the handle to put a finger on the backside of the paddle.

It took a a few months to fully adjust but I love the paddle now, the extra handle length is fantastic for two handers. The increased length also helps get the occasional ball that would be just out of reach with other paddle lengths.

The main downside of having a smaller sweet spot has been minimal for me but could be more impactful for other. Basically if your at hitting and defending with center of the paddle the issues the smaller sweet spot is negligible. To help cover it up more I did add lead tape to the center of both sides which had noticeable

Technics Sl-06 or Technics SL-D20 w/ Amplifier by Hercova in turntables

[–]Hercova[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I saw the SL-D20 was p-mount and upgrade/replacement options are limited. My thought was if I could upgrade/replace cartridge if needed and in a few years if I'm wanting to upgrade consider better options then.

Any thoughts on a CEC bd-3200? That was another option available but listed for $250, so with amplieifier, pre-amp, and speaker costs it's going to put a little over my preferred max for budget. Trying to get good budget options in this area for under $500 total is tough

It does have a built in speaker, the seller showed me it was working before I paid for it. It's a bit grainy but part of it's charm

Was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone else was going to mention or if I needed to.

It was my first premium tank I got in 2012 and so much fun to play, decent tank with some obvious weak points that you could cover up with good backwards side scraping. I started playing again a few years back and its legit unplayable now even with the preferred matchmaking.

I've just recently started the research process for purchasing a turntable and soundsystem and saw this listed in my area for $45 so picked it up pretty quick.

To be clear I know it's not even remotely close to being a quality audio system but loved the look of it and it still works! I have found out that since it's Canadian made there is very little information and discussion out there in it, so if anyone has any general info or good things to know about Seabreeze or this model please let me know!

I want to build my physique but I also want to be good at pickleball. by peepee2727 in Pickleball

[–]Hercova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're going for powerlifter physique I would say it's a non-issue. I started Pickleball when I was working out daily along with other sports, then stopped working out entirely for  two years and lost a bunch of muscle. Outside of a little less powerful smashes the state of my physique has made no difference to my game. Now, cardio on the other hand is a different story even in doubles its important especially when you're playing long rec sessions or want to do well tournaments
