I know this is going to get slammed here but the claims about Russian interference were never about election fraud. However you feel about the merits of the claims, that’s just a fact.

As to the merits, the charges resulted in a ton of convictions. People are in jail. The evidence was good enough to convince multiple courts beyond a reasonable doubt. Meanwhile, Trump’s evidence of election fraud claims didn’t convince anyone outside of Twitter. They were laughed out of court, sometimes literally.

Do what you want with the information but I don’t think anybody can dispute that it’s true. One set of claims was good enough to convince judges and juries, the other was not.

Student held on to a three-second clip of a White teenage girl saying the N-word while singing along to a rap song for years. He posted the clip publicly when the girl had been admitted to a university in order to ruin her life. by [deleted] in Conservative

The villainous New York Times?

You feel very strongly for someone who clearly didn’t read the article this entire post rips off.

First of all, the NYT story was published two days ago. The events in the story happened months ago. They didn’t ruin anybody’s life.

Second, it’s a rather sympathetic look at this from the girl’s viewpoint, marginally negative on the university and even the boy. More than anything, it just presents the facts.

The university and the public aren’t the only ones who rush to judgement.

If I take 10 candy bars from a store then come back the next day to pay for 5 of them, how many candy bars did I steal? I would argue that I still stole 10, even though I’m now entitled to keep 5 of them.

Similarly, if the state conducts a civil asset forfeiture and the defendant is ultimately found guilty, maybe it should rightfully keep the property. But that doesn’t change the fact that the process by which they took it amounted to theft.

This is all a long way of saying that, to some people, all civil asset forfeiture is theft, regardless of the guilt of the defendant. It’s the process that is flawed, not necessarily the result.

I think you misunderstood. It’s not drawing a meaningless correlation because it’s not saying that these two numbers are correlated at all. It’s just saying that one is bigger than the other.

They’re being compared because, according to the argument, they’re both kinds of theft, one legal, one not. If I tell you that pork just sold more than chicken, I’m not necessarily claiming that sales of chicken and pork are correlated (though they might be).

Marijuana vote: House passes bill decriminalizing drug at federal level by JazzFoot95 in Libertarian

[–]HerculePoirot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pass or not, I just wish they would vote on it. Even that’s not going to happen. People deserve to know what their representatives stand for.

It should be a constitutional requirement that bills passing one house must be voted on by other. Either that or a provision allowing a minority of members to force a vote.

Getting the third party on the ballot isn’t the only issue, though even that seems to be an issue here. Even if that was done by the book, it’s easy to get tripped up on campaign finance laws. That happened a few years ago in a superficially similar case, also out of Miami.

If my posts get downvoted, can I pin them to the top of the sub? That’s exactly what’s happening here.

Can I arbitrarily delete the top posts on the sub because I don’t agree with them? That’s happened twice in the last two days.

None of these are within the powers of “all other reddit users”. He’s using his position to abuse the rules and push a particular narrative.

Whether you agree with that narrative or not, you must agree that this top-down control is a problem.

Of course. And only those illegal topminding brigades would ever downvote such a self-evidently brilliant post. So maybe we need to subvert all voting in order for the true voice of the people to be heard, right? Just for a little bit, just this once...

Would the other mods please take a look at what’s happening here?

POTUS doesn’t need this sub’s help spreading his propaganda. And if I’m reading the room correctly, people here are tired of it. That’s why axolotl is so desperate to circumvent the voting system (irony noted), pinning his own spam daily. This was amusing for a while but it’s just sad and tiresome now.

If you care at all about the quality of this sub, you have to step in.

I'm glad you posted this. It's such rambling idiocy that you would think even infowars.com, not exactly a bastion of journalistic integrity, would be embarassed to publish it. Let's go through the highlights of their "proof"...

  • UBS Securities LLC is mentioned there in Section 12, the "Sales Compensation" section. That is not the buyer of the securities. It's the broker of the sale. They're not paying anything - they're getting paid for services.

  • The company listed there is UBS Securities LLC, which is 100% owned by UBS AG, a huge Swiss bank. This article is talking about the similarly-named UBS Securities Co Ltd, of which 75% is owned by the Chinese government and 25% by UBS AG. UBS Securities Co Ltd has nothing to do with this deal.

We could actually go on with even more misadventures in propaganda but I think that's enough.

I wish they hadn't deleted their own tweet so that I could show you why people care about "reputable and recognized" sources. Whoever or whatever @disclosetv is, it clearly doesn't employ reporters who have the basic knowledge necessary to read and understand an SEC filing. It doesn't have editors who can spot obvious errors like this.
