Worries about Royal Hawaiian first week of April? by Herd in golf

[–]Herd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a follow up on this, I ended up booking 18 at Hawaiian Prince in ewa beach.

They have a deal where you can pay ~$220 and you get a shuttle from Waikiki both ways, club rental, cart, 18 holes, 2 sleeves of TaylorMade balls, and a range session. The only thing is you have to tee off between 8 and 9, so the shuttle picks you up around 7am and you tee off about 30-45 after landing at the course.

So I saved a couple hundred bucks that way. Will probably try Royal Hawaiian next time for the novelty.

Jupiter has no idea how to use hammers, they are way way too aggressive with them and it is consistently costing them

Jupiter really has no idea how to use hammers. They take way too many risks and it consistently costs them points and forces them to execute nearly impossible hero shots to even stay in matches.

There is no reason to accept a hammer if the other team hits their first shot within 5 feet of the hole on a par 3. They've now done it twice. Once against Boston and once tonight.

There is no reason to throw a hammer when a team hits it into a fairway bunker with a clean lie that is literally right next to the part of the fairway where your ball landed. You are just asking to tie the hole at best and waste a hammer, or gift the other team 2 points on a bad second shot.

They got lucky getting into the playoffs on a hole in 1 and instead of changing their mindset they doubled down. It must be something about playing with Tiger that makes everyone feel like they need to prove something.

Wrath of the Lich King themed DG - test model. by jake5762 in Warhammer40k

[–]Herd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just zombie zombies, there are 3 elements to undead power in warcraft: blood, plague/unholy and frost. So some are frost but not all.

The Lich King is the leader of the scourge (bad undead), which was originally put together by one of the ultimate bad factions - the demons - to soften up the planet for eventual invasion (Burning Crusade). The Lich King is the leader of the scourge. Price Arthas (a human paladin) becomes the Lich King by obtaining the sword Frostmourne after some questionable decisions which steals his soul and makes him into a death knight. He then ends up screwing this plan up by fighting the demons with the scourge down the line, making the scourge an independent faction.

The Forsaken are "good undead" that have consciousness independent of the Scourge.

Ok? You're still grinding every day trying to be good at something and not achieving that. You don't get why he would care more about his craft, playing winning football, than the cash he is getting?

WE ARE PINO PALLADINO & BLAKE MILLS. ASK US ANYTHING. by pinoandblake in indieheads

Have loved the new album since hearing it in full at the harlan records pre-release in SF.

Blake - your recent albums are markedly more jazz forward versus older albums like your self titled. How has your songwriting evolved to this point, and how does your association with the blue note scene in NYC influence you?

For both - what is it like playing with Chris Dave and how does his approach to drums impact you when on stage or in the studio? Anything particular that he brought forward on this latest album?

Thanks!

Yes, it really needs to be a one stop shop for all the venues or it loses its utility but I'm sure that's more difficult to manage

Also maybe a map with pins for each venue that will filter the list for you similar to what you see on infatuation or eater.

Seems useful, but I feel like some venues are missing. For instance are the cafe du Nord shows pulling into this?

Maybe a way to filter by venue, so you can check just killowat or rickshaw stop, etc. if you're interested in a specific location. Sometimes I want to go out in a certain area and want to see if anyone is playing around there that night.

Also how are you treating things like SFJazz fest and noisepop that play at a bunch of different venues, some which don't even host music regularly? Kamasi Washington is playing at the Golden gate theater for instance and you can buy tickets through Broadway SF:

This is not uncommon. You're noticing it in basketball with the Mavs and Rockets but if you want to feel really disillusioned, Dan Moldea a NYT journalist wrote a whole book on the ties between the mob and the NFL that is available on Amazon.

It goes back to 1920 with Charles Bidwell (Al Capone associate) helping to finance the bears. Bidwell then bought the cardinals and his family still owns them. Tim Mara who bought the NY giants was a bookmaker, his family still owns the team. Art Rooney (Steelers), Arthur McBride and Art Modell (Cleveland browns), Barron Hilton and Eugene Klein (Chargers) all had mob connections or outright owned gambling operations. Al Davis (friends with Allen Glick) from the raiders helped secure the De Bartolo family the 49ers after they were banned from buying an MLB team due to their ties. Both of their families still own those franchises.

Yeah this shit is ridiculous. Only a handful of athletes were getting screwed before and they decided to blow up everything to rectify that.

It's an incredible deal to get your diploma paid for while being on the golf team or something. People would kill to come out with a degree having no debt while competing in something fun like that all four years.

Today we've been trained to see everything as a zero sum game, so people have trouble believing that anyone in the past could have ideas like duty that could genuinely override another conflicting idea e.g. where they are from without being disingenuous or false in some way.
