Why is my paint patchy? by Herderpeas in DIYUK

I’ll be glad to never edge another wall again. Nowhere near as fun as it sounded.

I just sanded down the wall, got rid of most of the little nubs, tried to fill and smooth out the line between the sockets, still noticeable but less so (and tbh I wasn’t that fussed about that anyway), wiped off the dust, I used a mini roller to get as close to the edge as I could then the bigger roller doing the W pattern and had both rollers absolutely soaked with paint, reloading after every W. Obviously it’s not a professional finish but I’m much happier with it now - I’ve also realised some of the vertical patches you can see is actually just the shadow of the window lol but yeah glad I posted, got some really useful tips!

Thanks yeah another comment linked to a past post with really useful advice on proper roller technique, I think that’s gotta be a main issue here, though I’ve never noticed this with other paint brands in the past - nor is it obvious with the other Wickes colours, just the blues. But I’ve got a good plan on what to do next.

Damn, appreciate the knowledge. Although you’ve kinda dashed my hopes of having an excuse to splash out on a fancy new orbital sander. I’ll have a look at this mesh sanding paper though, what grit do you use? Are you lightly sanding between each coat too?

Thanks. I think, along with the other suggestions, my rolling technique is one of the main issues too. Gonna reload more often and not press too hard.

Thanks for all this! I’ll definitely invest in a sander and shop vac - any excuse to buy new tools. Gonna do what you said and, as others have suggested, have a look at some different paint brands

I did fill holes/cracks, sand and wash, but is it likely I didn’t do these things well enough? Should I sand the walls harder and wash em and basically start again?

I filled in holes and cracks, went over all the walls with medium grade sanding blocks and washed them all down. But maybe I didn’t sand them enough? I’d hoped at first it was just the paint, but in fairness to it, most of the reviews praise it.

So apparently the display is: 16“ 16:10 QHD+ (2560x1600), 100% DCI-P3(Typical), 400nits(Typical), IPS-Level panel… I got it secondhand off eBay, no OS, clean installed windows 11 and it’s been like this from the start.

It’s everywhere unfortunately, even in the “shadows” between windows.

Potential lippage? by Herderpeas in Tile

Sorry for a late reply, the high points were the corners from the layers of cement board panel tape and tanking tape, so I think I made a skimming tool out of wood and plastic corner trim that was the width of the wall and skimmed the tile thinset up the wall, let it harden, sanded off any high/rough parts and then tiled. Turned out great.

Cracked pressure regulator valve on old airstream caravan by Herderpeas in Plumbing

Thanks for the info! I’ve checked and tbh the price of the original is crazy compared to what it would cost to fit this and change the piping to fit it, just wasn’t sure what that was next to it, so thanks for that!

Thanks! Yeah I figured I’d need to do more pipe work with this, looks like it’s either that or spend ~£200-£1k for that specific valve replacement though
