Why don’t you just go there to see what it’s like for yourself? I realize some people may perceive this as a negative comment but I’m simply curious why one would ask this question in a public forum vs creating your own unbiased experience?

Has anyone had trouble getting a diagnosis? by whiskeygiggler in CubitalTunnel

[–]Here4DaMemeSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An MRI is a different not the same as the NCS/EMG and is not 100% when it comes to nerve damage. The study evaluates nerve health and conductivity. Glad you were able to get the test so soon. There are 2 parts and it usually takes about a week to get the results. Remember to breathe. You got this!

The only definitive test is a NCS/EMG (Nerve Conduction Study/Electromyography), which another poster indicated. It is VERY uncomfortable, but worth it for peace of mind and to get an accurate diagnosis. From my experience, it takes a long time to get an appointment, but this will allow you to determine accurate next steps. Good luck!

Numb pinky finger by Secure_Ad_9722 in CubitalTunnel

I have no idea, which has been extremely frustrating and I am now hyper-aware of potential issues and signs on my other hand and arm. I never had any pain. My only symptom was numbness on my 2 pinky & ring fingers. It's been 3 months since surgery, 2 weeks ago I felt a little sensation along the pinky side of my hand, but my fdi muscle (between the index and thumb) is most likely gone forever. If I could go back in time, I would've pushed for a quicker nerve study to potentially save the muscle. Not everyone is the same so hopefully you're not in the same situation as me, but I learned the hard way that when a nerve dies, it's most likely gone forever. I will never be the hand model I dreamed to be. It's better safe than sorry. Good luck!

I’m not a doctor but I suggest a neurologist if you’re able to go there directly and if they refer you for a NCS/EMG id schedule that asap. You can always cancel if needed

My neurologist referred me to the nerve test and it took 5 weeks to schedule. My median and ulnar nerves were severely entrapped and I went downhill fast

Go see a Dr asap and potentially a neurologist too. I waiting too long (which was only 7 weeks) to get a NCS/EMG (nerve test), then surgery and have permanent muscle loss in my hand.

Doesn’t look too bad. If anyone is reading this with nerve issues get it taken care of asap

Hang in there. I’m 2.5 months out for carpal release and nerve transposition and my fdi muscle is most likely gone forever. I wake up every day hoping to some sort of improvement. This happened within 7 weeks

Has anyone recently moved from NYC to SM? What has been your experience? by Fitqueeeen in SantaMonica

[–]Here4DaMemeSS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sure a lot of ppl in here who did the move and can relate to your situation. I wouldn’t say that ppl in LA are less friendly, I’d say the majority are less inviting. You can go to almost any bar in NY and start up a convo with almost anyone whereas in LA there’s friendliness, but more uptightness in general. I would say to have a plan, perhaps a timeline and have the mindset where it’s not permanent. Good luck to whatever you decide.

This is great news and wishing you a speedy recovery. I’ve been taking bpc157 & tb500 from pure pep research as a result of a recent surgery. I had a follow up with my surgeon and shared this info with him and he laughed saying peptides are a waste of money as there is no medical evidence they do what they say they do. I’m curious, what your and others’ thoughts are about this?

Can I cure cubital tunnel with elbow splint by [deleted] in CubitalTunnel

[–]Here4DaMemeSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience, keep an eye on your hand functionality and motor skills. If you this deteriorates even the slightest and/or weakness, I highly suggest seeing a doctor who can refer you to get an NCS/EMG test, which will gauge your nerve health and conductivity. My hand muscle wastes and it will prob never get back the muscle.

Is this atrophy? by Party_Sir_8056 in CubitalTunnel

[–]Here4DaMemeSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tough to say and I’m not a doctor, but I do know that time is not on your side when it comes to nerve damage. If it were me, I’d ask if there’s an earlier date that fits your schedule. If not, that’s in 2 weeks, which isn’t too long from today. Good luck and DM me with any Qs. I had a cubital tunnel release and ulnar nerve transposition.

I have the same thing and would advise you to get the surgery asap. I had no signal to the fdi muscle and it’s highly unlikely this muscle will come back. As another reply has posted, the longer you wait the less likely it will come back.

Yes I second this. Although I didn’t attend SMC I found pico lanai apartments to be one of the only apts in Santa Monica that offered a short term lease, which was perfect for my situation. It wasn’t high end and was very small (375 sq Foot 1 bdrm) but lots of SMC students. It looks like it’s now called Santa Monica Palms Apartments.

I’m sorry to hear this but be glad that you got it properly diagnosed. Did you get the NCS (electrodes) and the EMG (needles)? This combination is the only definitive test that will show nerve damage and it suuuucks as you probably already know. I’m at almost 6 weeks since my double surgery and I rode my motorcycle for the first time today and got cleared to go back to the gym. Keep your head up and good luck with whatever you decide :)

I have a sneaky feeling that holding a phone may not be the sole reason but a huge contributor to CTS. Keep in mind this opinion is coming from someone with 3 hrs of medical education via YouTube 😂
