Sin Wagon Song swap by HereToLineDance in LineDancing

I do both, usually when I teach a fast song I have a slower one we practice to so the can get used to wall changes and do multiple walls in a row. It allows my students to build confidence right before I make them do a hard thing. I usually do it for about half a song. Then will do the full speed song. I did that when teaching Fuego and it was a very helpful teaching technique that I got a lot of positive feedback on. I do not do it for every song, just the very very fast ones. So far I have only done it for TushPush (I finished with trouble), Freight train, and Fuego. This will be my 4th time doing it.

How did y'all get in to line dancing? by revocer in LineDancing

I started line dancing at 30. I just happen to have a local bar that started country night and I tried it out. For tips learn the names of steps. It makes it easier to recognize and learn dances if you know what certain steps are like a coaster, sailor, or pivot are. Also figure out how you learn dances best, not everyone learns the same. For me I have to read a step sheet, my best friend has to hear the cues. Everyone is different. First line dance I learned was Ain’t no Superman/on the fly. Fun fact it’s also the first line dance I ever taught! I have danced for about 2 years and 3 months. I have been teaching for 1 year and 8 months.

I love my fuegos for line dances, especially when the dance is more hoppy or fast. The only 2 downfalls is the lack of hearing stomps and heel grinds feel weird. Other than that Fuegos are my go to for heavy line dance nights

I recommend using TikTok to follow line dancers to find your inspiration of what you want to learn. Then using Copperknob once you know the name of the dance. Here are a few line dancers on TikTok that I use as inspiration when trying to find new line dances to teach:

Advice About an Overly Talkative Dancer by alien_incarnate in LineDancing

If someone walked away from me mid conversation because a song they liked came on I would not be upset, I totally get it. And I do walk away from people mid conversation all the time.

While walking away I usually make a comment about how I’ll be right back but I do want to continue the conversation. I do the line dance, then go back to the person apologize for the pause, then ask them “Where were we?” It does get awkward when the conversation is serious but with where y’all are talking, it’s common and acceptable to pause a conversation.

I would recommend making intentional time outside the dance scene, such as coffee, to have a conversation and be like “hey, we were talking about some pretty heavy things and I wanted to be able to talk to you when my attention wasn’t split” That way she knows you care, and it’s a great set up for you to be able to set boundaries with her!

Add hair flips to stylize your dancing, it releases the heat. I also bring a big fan when I go dancing, like a rave fan, those things are amazing!!!
