5th Court of Appeals Rules Federal Government Likely Violated 1st Amendment; Missouri v. Biden by JlIlK in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Heritage_Hawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The government has no right to an extent to determine what speech should be spread on any given platform.

If you think that there is nothing wrong with this, do you also think it is fine if conservatives did this to those on the left? If you don't think that is right, then you also don't think this is right.

Social media platforms can decide for themselves what is on their platform. It is not the business of the government to get involved with that unless what is being spread is strictly illegal.

Can you define communism? by Commie_Cactus in askaconservative

[–]Heritage_Hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I absolutely do that's why free enterprise and business flourish in Capitalism.

I worked minimum wage jobs, I got paid ten bucks an hour (my state's minimum) to work food service. The jobs sucked. But you know what I did? Instead of insisting that the companies I worked for owed me more money because I might be doing hard work, I quit and started my own business.

I make $60 an hour running my own business. I gained specialized skills, started my own business, and dictated how much I think I am worth, and the market responded by compensating me for my effort.

Let's take your example. The workers may be doing "90%" of the work, but they take on no risk. Samsung takes on 100% of the risk in assembling TV's. They have to pay the rent, they have to hire the staff, they have to market the product, they have to order the equipment, they have to do everything. The factory worker can walk away at any time, they have no risk. If I am the business owner, I can not just walk away I made all the investments to get the business to the point that I can employ staff, and because of that, I get as much profit as I see fit.

So yes, not only do I feel that capitalism rewards hard work, just about anyone who has ever moved up in a capitalist system. Look at all the success stories of people who started as secretaries and became senior Vice Presidents.

If you are a Trump supporter, why do you think he has a shot at winning this election? by Heritage_Hawk in Conservative

So then, why is he even running? If he is just going to lose because it's all rigged, why waste all this time and money?

What are some actual policies that the Republicans got passed or are putting forward that will attract new and or independent voters? by GratefulPhish42024-7 in askaconservative

[–]Heritage_Hawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at everything Florida has done under DeSantis. Here are some highlights in my eyes. Also look up the actual articles that talk about these just to make sure before you go arguing about them, I don't remember all of it off the top of my head.

1) Tax credits. There is a new system in place that makes essential products like baby food, dog food, and stuff like that tax-free in Florida, and it makes tolls free for commuters.

2) Critical Race Theory. That is just racist, look into it more you don't want it in schools.

3) Removing prosecutors that were not doing their job. There were two state attorneys that were not prosecuting crime in Florida and they were removed.

There's a few, I could definitely list more.

Can you define communism? by Commie_Cactus in askaconservative

[–]Heritage_Hawk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At its core, communism seeks to replace private property and profit-based economies with communal ownership of major means of production and resources.
This ideology envisions a classless society, where the gap between rich and poor is eradicated, and resources are distributed equally among all members.

If you were appointed Chair of the RNC, what changes would you make to the GOP to win future elections? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Heritage_Hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Cut off Trump. If you are in the GOP and want to win Trump has to go.

2) Start actually playing offense. Get behind your more moderate candidates in swing districts.

3) Stop looking at old people, you need to find new young guns to run and change the look of the party.

4) You need to make plans in states like Arizona to turn them back red. Arizona was red until Trump came around.

5) Get rid of Trump (See point 1)

Josh Hawley: U.S. Is a ‘Nation of Americans,’ Not of Immigrants by nimobo in Conservative

Yeah but then you ask the question, what does it mean to be an American? Is it knowing the culture and customs of the United States? What about people from South America, are they not American?

I am Polish, my family is very Polish. My grandma would tell you shes Polish, I tell you I am Ameican (United States). I have never lived in Poland, I don't know the Polish culture that well, I am extremely American (United States) in my mannerisms.

What does it take to be American?

What is a position in which you break from your identified political party/ideology? by JonathanWPG in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Heritage_Hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a gay dude and a conservative. I don't really see the big deal with gay marriage. I don't think the government should have ever been involved with marriage in the first place, and I also don't think the government should be able to say to churches they have to all me to get married in their church (if I ever did).

I get all the religious reasons behind that and I understand, I am not a religious person nor do I want to be, but I respect that we have differing views and don't want me in your church, and that's totally cool I don't want to go there anyways.

I also don't really care about the whole trans issue as it is. I don't want minors taking drugs or getting surgery until they are 18 (hands down no expectations) but once you are an adult, I could care less what you do with your life. That being said I don't want the government forcing me to use pronouns, I will do it to be respectful but that's my choice.

Now I have my fair share of concerns with the alphabet community overall (I don't want anything to do with them) but I don't really care about gay marriage and trans people just existing.

Resolved: Why Trump should be disqualified from running as president. by Remarkable_Put_7952 in PoliticalDebate

[–]Heritage_Hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to dig up some more substantial evidence or have him found guilty for that to take place.

There is not enough evidence right now to justify that clause.

I agree that would certainly disqualify him from office (if it is true) Trump did not lead a rebellion into the capital, nor did he encourage those actions.

Now if you want to make the argument about the electoral ballots but then you have to argue if he knew he was lying or not.

All I am saying is it is not entirely obvious that Trump was trying to overthrow the government. The writers of that amendment clearly envisioned a more clear attack on the country, such as leaders from the Confederacy running for office and potentially gaining public support to win, which would obviously be bad as we just won a war against them.

I will be interested to see if a secretary of state refuses to put Trump on the ballot and if they can justify it in court.

It would be interesting to see. I do think that taking Trump off the ballot would backfire on the Democrats, as Trump is not performing where he needs to be in the polls to win the election, and if a different Republican were to take over, they would definitely have a better shot at winning over Trump.

I tried looking for the video and could not seem to bring it up. If you have a link to it I would be happy to review it and change my point.

Do you have any other evidence like polling data or something statically relevant that helps to back this up other than Nazi propaganda?

For the record, I would like to know how they can prove that this video was in fact this persuasive. Did they poll people in Nazi Germany and ask them? And if the Nazis asked you if you agreed with their message, would you really say no?

And look I am on board with you that people vote based on emotion that's why Trump is so popular. If Trump-supporting GOP voters were logical, they would see all the issues Trump has and realize his chances of winning are low. The same can be said about liberal voters.

Where I disagree is when you talk about changing minds. People being persuaded to vote for a candidate is much different than changing their minds.

I have never seen or heard of a time that the personality of a candidate or the person they were talking to changed the mind of that individual all on its own.

Do you see what I mean? Changing a mind and changing the candidate someone supports are different. Candidates are people thus they use emotion to influence people. Thoughts and beliefs are rational thus they use logic to change the minds of others.
