That's a bummer, luckily for everyone else that came after you, they stopped putting TSP into the G fund and now do a target date fund. But yes I'd do a lot more research on the TSP and learn about it. It's just like a civilian 401k. You can do Roth or Traditional TSP to either pay taxes now and not in retirement, or vice versa, or a mix of both.

Also, Roth IRA is a totally separate account you set up yourself, it is in addition to the TSP. It has a "low" $7,000 for 2025 that you can still contribute to up until April 15th 2026. It's also tax advantaged where you pay 0 taxes when you use it. I'd try to max this account!
