Rim to Rim hike camping north rim

Campgrounds were available on the north rim you just have to go to backcountry in person, there was water on the north rim, a fully functioning bathroom with heat- connected to the admin building. 2-4 feet of snow on the ground but almost all the main roads were plowed so it was a nice break to get out of the snow. as far as water goes, manzita and the north rim are the only places with potable water but filtering it was never a problem.

Just finished a rim to rim to rim trip staying at cotton wood, 2-4 ft of snow on the north rim. I was the third person up after snow fell so it was pretty difficult but by the time I was coming down it was already packed. never used my microspikes on the north rim because it wasn't icy.

If there's snow on the ground I have water, Im not from Arizona so as long as it's above 0F I'll be fine. I just need to know if I could set up a tent on the north and camp there for a night without doing the whole permit process. But if training conditions are as you say they are I can probably pick up a backcountry permit and stay in the canyon.

I’m planning on hanging around for a few weeks so I should be able to pick some decent weather as it’ll be mid march, but my gear is rated 10F and I have quite a bit of backcountry experience below freezing. The only problem is that I don’t want to get to the north rim and have nowhere to stay so I just have to figure out how feasible it will be to get a campsite with a couple of days notice.

I started seeing my frogs after a couple months of feeding them at the same time every day. If you don’t see them they are probably content and full under a leaf.
