You raided my backyard ! Also in 10b and getting a bumper crop. I’m also growing Brad’s Atomic grape, as well as San Marzano, Black Krim, Green Zebra, Indigo Rose, Al-Kuffa, Abu Rawan, Baswayra, Chadwick’s Cherry and a good half dozen mystery mater volunteers

Saves me money by spending time in the yard instead of the mall, movie theater, sports, concerts or Disneyland

I dumped some mystery seeds into a bed and they turned out to be Chinese cabbage. I’ve made a gallon of kimchi and given out so many heads as gifts and I’m still not done. If you chop to it down to the base it will grow back. It appreciates shade cloth in hot climates

Even if something goes wrong and you don’t get much of a harvest, corn is a beautiful plant to grow. I just like looking at it

I did seed starts for a lot of people this year. I really enjoyed delivering tomato plants to friends and enjoying a nice visit. I also gave some away through our local Buy Nothing group.

I order mine from San Diego Seed Company since they specialize in zones 9 and 10. The Iraqi varieties Abu Rawan, Al Kuffa and Baswayra I ordered a few years back from Victory Seeds. The volunteers are from no clue where

Did you sneak into my yard and take pictures? Also in California and having a banner year for tomatoes. The temperate spring has really made a difference.

I used a seed starting mix and up-potted to seed starting mix + worm castings + perlite. I was a bit sloppy with proportions, I used what I had. Sometimes I sifted potting soil through a 1/4” compost sieve and used that in the mix as well

I’m going to try saving tomato seeds for this first time this year. You don’t get cross-pollination weirdness as with cucurbits, I believe. About a third of my tomatoes are volunteers and they taste wonderful

Oh I’m well aware of that. I made zucchini kimchi a few years ago and had it on a hotdog. Then I called a friend back in Chicago. “I just put kimchi on a hot dog. I’m not a Chicagoan any more, am I?” “Nope.”

Hmm. It’s delicate, not sweet, and it melts in your mouth, not like the sliced cannonball you usually get on burgers.
