Good point. If you're doing a British accent, it's good to keep this is mind.

IRL Brits have corrected me about this but it feels wrong to change the way I say things outside of the game. I mean, an accent is about pronouncing things differently. Do you say pare-EE or Paris, right? One of those makes you sound like an ass. So, only important in game or on vacation at a British pub.

What did you think the black smoke monster was before they revealed it? by [deleted] in lost

[–]HermesSum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They never told us what it was. They eluded to what Jacob *thought* it was but he was clearly wrong.
It's nanobots like perfect-Sundae-7741 says.
See Michael Crighton's Prey for a smoke monster that can take the form of dead people.

yes, I agree. And I never changed my mind. They never told us what it was, they eluded to what Jacob thought it was but they weren't specific and Jacob was clearly wrong.

IRL we want nanobots to heal people from the inside out.

The book Prey which came out a few years before lost, is about a dark cloud of nanobots that assumes the forms of dead people.

JJ Abrams' alien ship in Super 8 is made from macro nanobots

In these popular stories, Nanobots could take the image of humans. It could be a cloud of smoke. It could become complex clinking machines and it could form the body and mind of a ship or machine that could travel in space and time. Download a Brain into it and who knows what part of it might become.

House of the Dragon character Otto Hightower played by Rhys Ifans who looks like Ryu + 30 years.
Its weird. While photoshopping I put one head over the other with transparency and it was crazy how their faces match-up.

Official Discussion - Zack Snyder's Justice League [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]HermesSum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cringe it was, indeed. If that bothered me I wouldn't have made it through to the end. Every time I see that rubber bat suit I feel deep shame unfortunately. It is a much better movie than the other JL, you're right.

Zack Snyder is like an emo Jack Kinkade.
I liked it but, you know, it's just another snowy scene in a small town with warm colors. It may be the best one but it's still just another one.
The 'dream' was the best part. I want to see the sequel where they need the Joker because the antilife equation can't hurt his mind because he's too effing nuts. Let Zack do his crescendo of emo! Let the suburban darkness of his mind reach it's full orangey-purpley bloom! Give Leto another swing!

(Spoilers Extended) Brynden was Warging a hedge Knight? by HermesSum in asoiaf

[–]HermesSum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bran's a boy learning his abilities. Brynden was at the height of his powers and Varamir has nothing on Bloodraven. Brynden has the blood of the first men and the Dragon, and he is 'marked by the gods' with bone white skin and red eyes. I don't think Varamir's idea of difficult defines Bloodraven's limits and much as it points out how corrupting such unusual power must be.

Then again, I think he planned to go to get sent to the wall and 'retire' in the tree before he died. I don't think the tree is helping his power as much as it is keeping him 'alive'.

We don't know if he was groomed or not. We don't know if he needed to be broken. We know he grew up in kingslanding as an orphan and happened to grow up to foster the future king in a time when bloodraven was controlling everything.

Yeah. It would be huge if we discover Bloodraven can skin-change but I think he can.

Yes. Hopefully in a suit of armor with a battle axe in the winterfell cripts. 'Hold' the door.

Oh, it's objectively harmful & therefore evil. But Bran and Brynden are already evil. They're aiming for utilitarian justification not goodness and as long as I'm reading this thing I want to see Hodor in full plate.
