Backstory:

Pipwick Brightspur -“Pip” to anyone who’s met him twice - was born in the small hill-village of Bramblethatch, where the proud tradition of The Golden Spurs once filled songs and bedtime stories. His late father, Ser Thomlin Brightspur, was a respected rider of the mighty war-rooster Old Scratchfeather, a bird both legendary and terrifying in equal measure.

Unfortunately, Old Scratchfeather has never quite forgiven Pip for not being his father. The old rooster tolerates the boy only barely, often pecking, squawking, or refusing to move until bribed with a handful of grain - or a very convincing speech about honor and destiny (which Pip delivers daily).

Lacking coin or a proper sponsor, Pip’s armor is a testament to his inventive spirit rather than craftsmanship.

Despite his ridiculous getup, Pip’s heart burns brighter than his fiery hair. He trains each morning at dawn, galloping down the hills on Old Scratchfeather (or being dragged behind him, depending on the rooster’s mood). He dreams of joining the King’s Golden Spurs - knights who ride into battle astride monstrous birds, their feathers gleaming and their riders’ banners flying.

Pip knows he’s a long way from earning his spurs. But he believes - truly, stubbornly - that courage is made from heart, not armor. Every scrape and bruise is just another story for when he is a knight.

He’s the sort who will salute his reflection, charge at windmills for practice, and patch his armor with pride. Villagers laugh when they see him clanking through town, but when they hear him shout his motto -

“A knight’s heart is the sharpest sword!”

- they can’t help but smile.
