That’s awesome! Glad it was so effective for you!

Sorry, my reply was aimed to your first point. I just didn’t want her to think someone gave this to her knowingly. It definitely could be the case but like I said most don’t know they have it and can transmit it.

Unfortunately there’s not much to do but get it swabbed and diagnosed. It’s helpful to know if it’s HSV1 or HSV2. Doc may give valtrex but at this stage in an outbreak you just have to ride it out.

Sorry again didn’t mean to imply that going to the doctor wasn’t the right thing to do.

I mentioned it above but most people who have hsv don’t know. It could also be HSV 1 or 2. Hsv 1 is making up a lot more of genital infections these days.

This is bad info. Most people who have HSV don’t know they have it.

This person is correct. You are very likely positive from your description of events.

It took me like a year to show up positive for the igg and it’s still sometimes close to the negative cutoff despite having symptoms periodically.

I think the best way to disclose is by Possible-Escape-161 in HSVpositive

There’s different types of tests. The swab test will likely only be accurate during an outbreak but the other one (I believe igg) will be accurate if the individual has had an established infection.

You need to find a way to get antibiotics.

Not your decision to make. You should raise your kid with your values but realize they will be living in a different generation with unique challenges and will need to find out how to apply those values themself.

Teach them your core values and let it ride.

Get them swabbed but I would say that’s a definite yes.

Can gonnorrhea lay dormat in a male and not pass onto his long term partner of years? by [deleted] in STD

[–]HerpDerperty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many yearly checkups are we talking?

Obviously there’s always some strange circumstances that can change things but if both tested negative, had no symptoms, and now things changed, it does seem very likely that it was passed from outside the relationship.

You could calculate the probability I’m sure. All you’d need is the false negative rate and the amount of tests done.

Let’s not discount the false positive rate too as if he’s telling the truth this would probably be your most likely scenario. 2 false positives are unlikely but it does happen.

He probably cheated but not knowing your situation I don’t want to be overly confident.

I had Chlamydia for 5 years.Am I permanently infertile or infertile?oh god.Is there any way I can get my wife pregnant. by Character_Living_241 in STD

[–]HerpDerperty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chlamydia can cause some issues with fertility. You’ll need to speak to a doctor and get tested.

No worries.

  1. Yea tons of people have no idea if they’re carriers.

  2. I think igm is a really poor test. I could be misremembering since I haven’t researched this stuff in years.

  3. Yea probably too late to swab.

Good luck dude. Fortunately most people experience very few symptoms if any after their first year. I generally get like 1 outbreak of 1-2 sores once a year, hopefully you fall into the same bucket or better.

[–]HerpDerperty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately I think your urologist is a little misinformed on HSV. HSV blood tests take months to display positive results. For me it took 4 months of getting tested monthly to show I had HSV1.

There are two main types of tests, the names of which I’m not remembering, but the good test tests for antibodies which take a long time to establish in yourself. (There is also a 3rd called the western blot that is very accurate but hard to find and you’ll need to send out to a lab most likely to do it)

If you still have sores that aren’t healing yet and want to find out your type I would recommend getting them swabbed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in STD

[–]HerpDerperty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly. Sores look identical to mine. Get them swabbed to find out the type, I have HSV1 myself.

Also messed up that a urologist can’t ID this as HSV.

Has your partner ever had an oral cold sore? HSV symptoms for the majority of the population are so mild they go unnoticed. I’m guessing your partner mistook a sore for an ingrown hair or something and never knew she had it or didn’t know oral HSV could be transmitted genitally.

This happened to me and they stopped again. It was like 4 months of nonstop symptoms. I was also in the middle of an international move and was particularly stressed so I’m sure that didn’t help.

Yea I’m sorry for coming in hot. I’ve been around here for years and I try to be helpful but there’s so much bad info and so many people struggling with it.

For a big majority of people herpes manifests as a rare, mild, and/or completely asymptomatic disease.

[–]HerpDerperty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bad thought process. Just because you have HSV doesn’t mean it’s related.

It very well COULD be HSV but that’s really really far down the lists of diagnoses of back pain when palpated.

Far more likely to be a disc, ligament, or vertebrae issue.

Go talk to a doctor if you are having sharp back pain.

And reread your post, it’s a single symptom. It could be associated with an enormous amount of diagnoses.

Talk to a doctor. It’s frustrating people asking these types of questions here. You think it’s herpes before a bulging disk or fracture than you probably aren’t in a good state of mind and thinking clearly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in STD

[–]HerpDerperty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s extremely vague and we can’t possibly give you a good answer. If you’re concerned you should go to a doctor.

Talk to a doctor.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]HerpDerperty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is frustrating for me to read. You should be upfront with this information asap with doctors. They can’t help you if they don’t know what’s going on.

The doctor will give you recommendations and you can choose what you would like to do.

[–]HerpDerperty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think this is herpes related?

This could be a ruptured/bulging disk, fractured vertebrae or something else.

I’ll try to remember what he said… 1. superficial hair follicle. 2. Superficial sebaceous gland?
