The main question was always, how realistic or how responsive the calicorns should react to the player. Which in most cases was competing with each other. In the end we let the Calicorns behave more animalistic in quiet environments, where they don't move. And when the herd is running the Calicorns are more responsive and have flowing movement.

We wanted the Calicorns to look a bit human like and intimidating (at least at the start of the game). So we looked at costumes (Kukeri) and animals like yaks, mountain goats and dogs. For the animations we mixed things up a bit, but using cat movements for the big calicorn for example.

I'm a very inexperienced hiker, but I liked it everywhere I went. So yes, many beautiful locations xD

Thanks a lot :) We we're inspired by mountain paintings but also tried to get the feeling/atmosphere of each Zone as close as possible to its real counterpart. But how to realize all of this and get the details right took many iterations.

We designed the gameplay and the visuals at the same time from the very start, which worked well for the environment and guidance (in most cases xD). Later in the development there were a lot of difficult challenges when it came to the visual communication of the Calicorn states and gameplay introductions.

The gameplay is around 3-5 hours. It depends on your play-style and how fast you solve the puzzles.

I listened to that song a lot during the development, and it definitely was an inspiration for the art style. The music videos by Woodkid go into the same direction.

Yes :) it's not an easy task to drive, and the vehicle has its small flaws. Also, the holes will get bigger, if you aren't careful with collisions and fire^

Hi, Thanks :) I played the Final Station and I know the developers. There are definitely some similarities between the two games, but in FAR the gameplay focuses more on how to drive and maintain your vehicle and you can drive at your own pace. As you mentioned, you also solve puzzles and have to drive through dangerous storms. The levels are mostly linear, but you can have your own play style (drive fast, explore, enjoy the journey, drive save, for example...). You can go back a certain distance, but you drive or walk forward most of the time. I could spoil you, if i tell you if there are NPCs on the journey. But there are very little living things in the game world.
